A 1983 Art School graduate, I'm a former TV artist and assistant producer, now independent writer/producer and visionary. I write mostly speculative fiction (time travel and alternate history with adept space colonization) and paint mainly impressionistic space art and sci-fi illustrations. More about me and my projects, at www.scifialmanac.com
Let me mention briefly about the importance of space art and sci-fi. It's not just about imagination or horror, as some think, watching SyFy Channel. Frankly, sooner or later there won't be enough place for all the billions upon billions of us on Earth. Not enough food, water, air, fuel or other basic resources (as we see it happening already). We must explore space in finding ways to survive in the cosmos. Humanity is destined for the starts, whether we like it or not. And what we do now in space-art and sci-fi is showing the future generations the way and the fact that we care! It's our grandchildren we're talking about. Let's not make them feel abandoned by their progenitors, or they will call us "the greatest egoists that ever walked the earth... and destroyed it." Favorite artists: Michelangelo, El Greco, Van Gogh, John Berkey, Vincent di Fate, etc. Favorite writers: Ray Bradbury, Michael Crichton, Elizabeth Moon, Bill Shatner, etc. Favorite actors: Burt Lancaster, Ingrid Bergman, Kevin Costner, Scott Bakula, etc. See my eHow.com tutorial How To Make Space Art for traditional artists.
