If it's not rare, unusual, historically significant or simply jaw-droppingly beautiful, you won't find it here.

In fact, I have vintage art I am confident you will not find elsewhere. I am a licensed, professional artist, selling my own original art to major manufacturers who produce it on everything from area rugs to wallpaper, dinnerware etc--you can find my work in major retailers throughout the US and beyond. But vintage art, old posters, antique ephemera and fine art is my passion. I am particularly enthralled with the Art Nouveau era, and vintage French works. You'll see a lot of that here.

On Yesterday's Girl, you'll find both my original works and vintage works that were carefully selected--in other words, I have only chosen the best stuff to show you. I won't bombard you with the same old tired vintage art you can find elsewhere, making you scroll through pages and pages of boilerplate stuff you can find anywhere and everywhere else. And I won't offer you anything substandard in quality. That's a fact.

I will spend hours upon hours retouching and restoring one single image. I once spent twenty hours retouching an old and extremely rare circus image from France. I'm crazy like that. If it's not up to par and it's not special, or it's not high quality, it's history.

Many artists understand that scanning, cropping and enlarging are not sciences, they are art forms. Knowing how to manipulate art masterfully is absolutely essential to the quality of the final print. I've spent over a decade at it, and I still learn something new every time I retouch a vintage work. My images were rendered at 300 dpi at the very least, and more often, 2400 dpi. For those of you who don't know what that means, that is the quality of reproduction that museums use for their reproductions.

If you see something here you want on another product, contact me. Similarly, if you need a custom design from scratch, or want color manipulation ("I love blue but that poster is orange") or have a graphic design project so crazy or weird you think nobody can do it, contact me.

Much of the vintage work on this site was dramatically altered and therefore not in the public domain. All rights reserved. And thanks for stopping by. I hope we delight and inspire you, and that you find something for your wall that makes your heart sing.

Thank you Mindy for your kind comments on my wall and for your visit :) You have a great gallery! So diverse which makes it such fun to explore. Re the header font on my main page...well noted! Yes, it's Recife's font Handmade - lowercase. I love his fonts. What program do you use for your fractals? Very nice work :)

I see!
Well, Milly's username is vilhei, you can judge for yourself. He doesn't socialize with anybody. I do have some pictures on Renderosity...but I can't afford to spend time on a site that doesn't get buyers.

thanks for swingin' round
Yeah, Jessie Wilcox Smith is a little too femme for me, though I try not to let my masculinity get in the way of appreciating any illustrator... or any artist. Alphonse Mucha is awesome. If you haven't seen it already, you should check out the apparently little known Aubrey Beardsley store.
