About
The Brick Store Museum was founded in 1936 by Edith Cleaves Barry, who created a repository for her family's local history collection in her great grandfather William Lord's store. Today that 1825 brick, dry goods store is the focus of a block of 19th-century commercial buildings in the heart of Kennebunk, Maine's National Register Historic District that houses an impressive collection of local archives and material culture. Fine furniture, portraits, maritime paintings, domestic goods, quilts and costumes are among the Museum's holdings, which illustrate the history of the area from the earliest settlements to the present. Open year-round, the Museum offers an array of changing exhibitions and programs.
