Maia Franceschi is an artist specialising in collage. She is a London-born French-Venezuelan, who has been strongly influenced by her father, a well-known artist belonging to the kinetic art movement in the 1960s and 1970s. Having a South American father and a French mother, Maia has experienced much of the world and consequently has established her own unique and international approach to her art. Social and environmental themes are frequently evident in her work. Maia often combines beautiful architecture, animals, touches of surrealism, a person or an object that exists in harmony with her thoughts and ideas. She has been able to realise and discover dimensions that link her to her childhood and the places she has visited around the world. While she travels through her past, present and future she continually constructs, deconstructs and reconstructs her art. In 2013 Maia was acknowledged by world-renowned Liberty London, when she was selected as one of the winners in the accessories category of the British Design Open Call competition. Liberty stocked Maia's designs for two years until 2015.
