About
I was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. People in my hometown know me best for activities other than visual art. I was a local fitness guru for about twelve years, when I invented and taught group dance/exercise classes with names like "Cardiofusion", "Caribe", "Trance", and "Tribe Vibe". I made t-shirts to commemorate each of these classes, so I have been attracted to the idea of imprinting my own art on useful products for a while now. These dance-inspired t-shirts, however, are parts of another era. Consequently, you will NOT find them here in my Zazzle store. I have moved on to an entirely new set of designs.
As a child, I was interested in science and math. I eventually became more interested in health, physical fitness, and human performance. This led to dance and, ultimately, to an intense decade of self-taught visual art. During those ten years, I experimented with different art styles that I discovered and developed on my own. I studied other subjects too, both formally in universities and informally in the world.
I make no claims to fame, but I will take whatever comes. Life is a continuous education, with few guarantees and many surprises.
One big surprise that hit me, in June of 2010, was a brain hemorrhage caused by faulty plumbing in my head. This was NOT due to poor health, but to an anatomical flaw that had been with me since birth. After a lifetime dedicated to the human body, I succumbed to a congenital defect that I had NO control over. I am now a pathetic vestige of my former super-fit self.
To avoid becoming another obscure, useless piece of garbage on the trash heap of high-priced contemporary art, I adapted some of my original paintings and other artwork to popular, functional products that real people can actually afford.
