There’s a number of things you can write on your Christmas ornaments depending on the theme of the design and where the ornament will be hung. Most ornament messages follow the themes of traditional messages like “Happy Holidays”, personal messages such as “Married {Year}”, inspiring messages such as “Joy to the World”, funny messages such as “Merry Grinchmas”, and Memorable messages like “A Christmas To Remember”.
Most of the above messages will work for a variety of situations such as ornaments for good friends or recently engaged ornaments, but it never hurts to write something more intimate.
To properly clean your ornament make sure you clean depending on the material of your ornament. Here are the best ways to clean different kinds of ornaments:
Glass, Plastic, and Ceramic Ornaments: Use a microfiber cloth to dust off the ornament and then clean with gentle soap and warm water
Wooden ornaments: Follow the same instructions as glass, plastic, and ceramic
ornaments. Do not get them too wet and do not let them soak in water
Fabric or cloth ornaments: Use a lint roller to get rid of dust or use a damp cloth to get rid of stains or smudges if necessary
There are two reasons to hang big ornaments before small ornaments:
First, place them more towards the center of the tree to better stabilize the tree. They will make the tree less likely to tip over or be affected by the weight of ornaments.
Second, it’s easier to place big ornaments first, and then place small ornaments after to fill in the gaps.
The number of Christmas ornaments you should have largely depends on the size of your tree, your personal style, and how full you want your tree to look. Here are the top things to consider:
- Tree Size
- Small Tree (3-4 feet): Around 30-50 ornaments
- Medium Tree (5-7 feet): About 70-100 ornaments
- Large Tree (8-9 feet): Approximately 150-200 ornaments
- Extra Large Tree (10+ feet): 250 or more ornaments
- Ornament size - how big are the ornaments? Naturally, larger ornaments take up more space so you might need fewer if you use more of them
- Style preference - if you like more minimalistic trees then you’ll need less but if you prefer a full & festive tree aim for the higher range we recommended
