Wedding Save the Date Cards from Zazzle

The question has been popped, the family has been notified, the plans are starting to come together. Now get your guests’ excitement piqued with a stunning save the date card! Add a photograph, the date, a personal message and a stamp and you’re good to go!

What is a save the date?

Great question! A save the date is similar to a wedding invitation, except it is sent well in advance of the formal invitation. Its purpose is to give your guests an opportunity to learn the date of your wedding, arrange for time off work if needed, organize childcare and to make travel arrangements. Unlike an invitation, it likely does not contain the precise location, exact time of the ceremony, gift requests, accommodation information, or any other special requests that pertain to the wedding itself. Essentially, it is a way of keeping the guests in-the-know about when and where your wedding is, while you work out the finer details.

How do you make a wedding save the date card?

Making a save the date on Zazzle could not be easier! The first step is to decide on the style that you want - a postcard, a flat card, a folding card, or perhaps even a magnet. Once you choose your type, the next step is the design. We have an international community of Independent Creators who have thousands of beautiful designs and styles to choose from, so you are sure to find the perfect one for you. All you have to do now is add your information (names, date, a photograph, if you wish) and that’s it! Last is the paper type! Our cards come in a wide range of paper types, including matte, semi-gloss, linen, kraft, and so many more! Once you have your paper type chosen, you can pick a shape for the card - square, rounded corners, scalloped, ticket, or bracketed. Our save the date cards are precision-cut and beautifully finished, so whatever shape and design you choose is sure to be a show-stopper. Pop it in an envelope (if necessary), add your addresses, and you’re ready to go!

When should you send a save the date?

For a local wedding, plan to send save the dates out four to six months prior to the wedding. Planning a destination wedding? We suggest sending them six to twelve months in advance. This will give your guests as much time as possible to start making plans and budgeting for the big day, without giving away too much of the surprise.

Should I expect responses from save the dates?

Save the dates don’t traditionally have RSVP cards enclosed, as they are usually included with the formal invitation. Many people will know from the save the date if they will be able to attend or not, and they might get in touch with you via phone or email to send their apologies. Some couples also choose to add a website address to the save the date to let guests know where to see any updates, along with a dedicated email address set up for guest’s questions. Doing so will make sure that you can stay focused on planning, and that your inbox isn’t blowing up with calls from your second cousin twice-removed about the seating chart.

Do save the date cards come with envelopes?

Yes, most of our save the date cards come with the standard white envelopes and are free of charge, however, some of the envelopes come with an extra cost. Postcards do not come with save the dates. On each individual product page you will find information regarding envelopes specific for that item.
