National Coffee Day
Wednesday, Sep 29th, 2021
Cup of Joe, Go Juice, Mud Mug, Jitter Juice, Rocket Fuel- a brew by any other name wouldn't smell as good. Hurray for National Coffee Day! For those of us who love our morning brew more than we love our mornings, researchers have taken a closer look at why.
Turns out, much like Pavlov's dogs, humans are conditioned to develop a taste for coffee because of the learned positive reinforcement we get from caffeine, (which happens to be a natural stimulant). That's right; we are all about that caffeine high. Even if our taste receptors didn't initially enjoy the taste of coffee, we are triggered by our senses to seek out that caffeine. No matter what name we call it, we need our fix when that coffee bell rings. For today, let's embrace coffee through all of our senses and feel free to indulge.

Libra Season
Friday, Sep 24th, 2021
Libra season is here! Librans are born between September 23rd and October 22nd and are known for charm and intelligence coupled with a desire for justice and balance. They also make good negotiators because they won't let their own needs get in the way of getting a deal done quickly and amicably. Libra is a cardinal sign which means it's all about getting out there and being active, so Libras are typically social and then some. They also have an artistic side with a need for expression that must be indulged. All that balance, though can make Libras a tad indecisive as they weigh their options. Famous Libras include Bruce Springsteen, Donald Glover, Will Smith, and Halsey. Get something for the Libras in your life with Libra gifts on Zazzle.

International Day of Sign Languages
Thursday, Sep 23rd, 2021
On September 23rd, the International Day of Sign Languages is celebrated around the world. As declared by the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), this year's theme is "We sign for human rights". The day presents an opportunity for the Deaf community to demonstrate its commitment to promoting a culture of human rights and raise awareness for language and communication diversity. Today, approximately 70 million people worldwide use one or more of the 300+ sign languages from around the world.
This year, Sundance Film Festival favorite, CODA, was released on Apple TV+. The movie provides a window into the life of a fishing family and in their small New England town through the daughter's point of view, the only family member who is hearing. CODA stands for Children of Deaf Adults, and it is a poignant view into the triumphs and challenges of a deaf and signing family as they navigate their daily lives. While the movie is not without its critics, it is an engaging way to engage with American Sign Language in the spirit of today's International Day of Sign Languages.

Fall Equinox
Wednesday, Sep 22nd, 2021
Today is the Fall equinox, time of year when the day and night are about equal in length. It's also called "autumnal equinox" or "harvest moon”; the word autumn comes from the Latin word meaning "to ripen." The moonrise comes soon after sunset; the early evening moonlight persists for a few days, serving as a definitive guide to farmers and crews harvesting their summer-grown crops. That's why the autumnal equinox is also called the "harvest moon."
Even if we're not harvesting, here in the Northern Hemisphere, this season brings about changes in our lives that show the passage of time. We go from summer fruit to pumpkins and apples; we look to get cozy and take in the changes in nature. "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness," wrote poet John Keats in 1819 in 'Ode to Autumn. "The whole world waits . Like some vast stage where at last is about to sound. The grand finale of the intricate play."
And what a show it is! Here are 8 ways to celebrate the Fall equinox on Zazzle Ideas!

Attitude of Gratitude with World Gratitude Day
Tuesday, Sep 21st, 2021
The gratitude movement is full of gratitude-givers, gratitude-receivers, gratitude-inspirers, and gratitude-spreaders. And today, you can be one of them! It's World Gratitude Day - a day that celebrates the belief that gratitude can change our world for the better. The day originated with the United Nation's Meditation Group. (Side note: have you heard about the Meditation Room at UN Headquarters?)
Today is a day to express who and what you are grateful for. It's a great reason to send a thankful text, or better yet, pull out your custom stationery and send a personal note. Gratitude journals have been much discussed over the years as a tool for mental health. One recommendation is to capture what you're grateful for and say why you're thankful. That extra step in expressing gratitude, whether for the beautiful weather or a beautiful gesture, helps solidify the positive emotion. If you're not into that kind of thing- all good- maybe try it out for just for a day. Today, give gratitude a try.

Beetlejuice Halloween
Monday, Sep 20th, 2021
The name Beetlejuice conjures up memories of ghosts and goths and all things Tim Burton. The movie is an 80's Halloween classic that has delighted children for generations.
This spooky classic stars a whole host of luminaries, including Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, and Michael Keaton as the titular character. It also happens to star Moira Rose herself (hello Schitts Creek stans), Catherine O Hara.
Of note is the Beetlejuice resurgence on platforms like TikTok with its gothy vibes. Beetlejuice Broadway Musical took over TikTok in 2019. The musical was officially closed in 2020 (a decision made before the pandemic), but just like the spirits and ghosts, they announced that it is coming back to Broadway in Spring 2022.
If you're feeling brave, say his name three times, and he just might appear. Or enjoy our officially licensed Beetlejuice designs and a spooky movie night to get ready for Halloween.

We The People
Friday, Sep 17th, 2021
Constitution Day is celebrated today, September 17, the day on which the Constitution was signed by 39 delegates to represent all 13 states at Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. The Constitution of the United States is a document that helps define our nation. It provides a framework for how we govern ourselves and gives order to the structure in which this country operates.
One of the more interesting discussions we have heard of late is the importance of the Supreme Court in the Constitution's framework. While the judiciary is only granted certain powers in Article III, it has served as a critical check on potential abuses of executive and legislative power throughout American history.
In this context, when we think about the Constitution Day celebrations taking place across America this week, remember to reflect upon how our Constitution matters not just for its content but also for the impact it has on how our country moves forward.

Getting Organized with Custom Binders
Tuesday, Sep 14th, 2021
It's that time of year again! Fall means cooler weather, football season, pumpkin spice everything (yum), and more importantly- -time to get organized. Holidays are just around the corner, and there's no better time to make sure your home or office is organized to head into the season with a little less stress.
If you're looking for an organizational system that will help get your life in order this fall, then binders may be just what you need. Accentuate the Positive
Monday, Sep 13th, 2021
Positive thinking has gotten a bit of a bad rap lately. We know that amount of positive thinking makes a difference without action and reaction to make a change. However, we can take heart in the science that says positive interventions such as gratitude, connecting with others, and expressions of creativity can change our wellbeing and worldview.
Today, on Positive Thinking Day, we get to choose the glass-half-full version of life. One of our favorite evidence-backed wellbeing actions is building a positivity portfolio. Based on the research of Dr. Barbara L. Fredrickson in her seminal book, Positivity, a positive portfolio is a collection of photos, quotes, images, mementos, poems, playlists- a collection of aids that speak to a single positive emotion- i.e., hope, joy, serenity, awe.
Curating and then reflecting on such imagery has been shown to rewire the brain- at minimum it will give you a quick boost in the moment. Pick a positive emotion you wish to embody and get creative. Luckily you know a site to help you out with that..ahem..Zazzle..creativity..positivity..yup.

Happy Grandparent's Day
Sunday, Sep 12th, 2021
It's Grandparent's Day, a day to honor the ones who put up with your parents as kids and who dote on you as their grandkids. Grandparent's Day has a fascinating legacy; it was started as a grassroots effort by Marian Mcquade, a West Virginian great grandmother. Marian had 15 children and 43 grandchildren, and in her work as a volunteer noticed that many grandparents in nursing homes weren't getting visits from their families. She made it her mission to petition government officials to recognize the Day to celebrate the seniors in our lives. It remained a West Virginian holiday until President Jimmy Carter decided it was essential to make it a nationally recognized day.
Today, Grandparent's Day is always celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day in the United States. In honor of Grandparents Day, make sure to celebrate the seniors in your life.

On this 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, we honor the victims and the survivors of 9/11, and we renew our vow to never forget.

Ampersand
Wednesday, Sep 8th, 2021
Ahh, the ampersand- that strange wiggle symbol that connects words in lieu of 'and.' Why is it today's moment? Well, some folks out there are trying to make this National Ampersand day...because- the 8 looks like an ampersand. So we dug in a little more and found this fascinating article about the history of the ampersand & you had better believe it's worth a read.
The ampersand is a ligature ( the combining of two letters)- in this case the combination of e and t, to form et, which in Latin means 'and.'
One of the first documented uses of the symbols was found in the ruins of Pompeii. & get this fact- there was a point in time when the ampersand was a quasi letter and the 27th letter in the alphabet. For these facts and how it got its name, this article from Merriam Webster is a great quick read. Oh, and what's our favorite use of the ampersand today- you guessed it- all things Zazzle wedding related.

Shanah Tovah
Tuesday, Sep 7th, 2021
Today is Rosh Hashanah, the first of the High Holidays and the Jewish New Year. The literal translation of Rosh Hashanah is 'head of the year.’ A celebration of the creation of the world, Rosh Hashanah marks making a fresh start.
It takes place over two days; this year, it started at sundown on September 6th and will end on September 8th. It is a time for people to reflect on the past year and ask for forgiveness for anything wrong they feel they have done. It will include prayers, rituals such as eating apples dipped in honey, and a time for reflection. This includes Hebrew scripture and readings as well as meditations on themes of renewal, restoration, and hope.
Shanah Tovah (Good Year) greetings to all those observing Rosh Hashanah.

Fall Fashion is Fun
Thursday, Sep 2nd, 2021
Fall fashion trends emerge every year, of course, and this year is no exception. But move over influencer street style, Vogue, Insta and other harbingers of trends. This year's most exciting place to get ideas for lewks is TikTok. That's right, TikTok seems directly responsible for Gen Z's embrace of the early 2000s aesthetic plus things like the angsty academic look (think preppy meets goth) and the return of oversized retro patterns on just about everything. Who What Wear has one roundup of TikTok fashion trends for Fall.
Here at Zazzle, we certainly have all the trends translated like oversize retro patterned leggings and angsty academic aka goth tshirts. One thing about TikTok fashion, though, no matter the trend, it's all kind of fun.

Game, Set, Tennis
Wednesday, Sep 1st, 2021
Tennis is a sport that has been around for centuries. Believed to have started in France as "tennis de table," (which translated means "table tennis" lol); the modern game of tennis we know today didn't come into existence until the late 19th century in England. The US Open Tennis Tournament was first held in 1881, and this year it is underway through to September 12th at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.
The US Open is a prestigious tournament that features men's and women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. There are also junior tournaments for players 18 years old or younger. One fact about the US Open is that it was the first grand slam to pay male and female players equally thanks to efforts from tennis legend Billie Jean King and others back in 1973. As the year's 4th and final grand slam, the US Open is always one for the books! For the tennis fans in your life, Zazzle's custom tennis balls are aces in terms of gifts and more.
