Today is National Honesty Day, and, to tell the truth, we’re quite excited. After all, what better way is there to end a month that starts with the festival of fibs known as April Fools' Day than with 24 hours of refreshing candor?
Of course, it’s no coincidence that April Fools' Day and National Honesty Day bookend the month of April as they do. The creator of National Honesty Day, M. Hirsh Goldberg, chose April 30 so that his holiday would be juxtaposed with April Fools' Day and the month would end on a more sincere note. The author of a book called “The Book of Lies: Schemes, Scams, Fakes, and Frauds That Have Changed the Course of History and Affect Our Daily Lives” and a former press secretary to a Governor of Maryland, Hirsh established the holiday in the early 1990s and even presents an annual Honest Abe Award to “an individual, group or company that has performed in an especially honorable way during the previous 12 months.” Given that a recent study found the average American tells four lies per day, perhaps Hirsh’s holiday deserves a little more attention.
Celebrating National Honesty Day is obviously quite simple: speak the unadulterated truth. We’re going to lead by example and admit that we’d like to get a plug for one of our products into this paragraph, so, you know, if you’d like to buy some wonderful invitations, you can do so here.

Holding Out for a Hero...
Friday, April 28th, 2023
If you haven’t yet visited our DC Comics store and shouted, “Holy customizable apparel, Batman!” or checked out our Marvel Comics shop and exclaimed, “By Odin’s beard!” in awestruck appreciation for the officially licensed merchandise on offer, today might be the perfect day to do so. After all, good citizens, today is National Superhero Day!
For those of you who don’t know, National Superhero Day was started by employees of Marvel Comics on this very day all the way back in 1995, and it’s been held annually on April 28 ever since. However, despite being the brainchild of staff members at a comic book publisher, this occasion isn’t simply intended to celebrate the heroes of comic lore. It’s also a day for recognizing the efforts of people like doctors, nurses, firefighters, military troops, teachers, parents, and others whose heroic exploits don’t unfold on the pages of graphic novels or on the big screen but take place every day in the real world.
If you’d like to don a cape or mask and cosplay as your comic book hero, there’s no better time to do it. However, if you’d prefer to celebrate a real-life champion or a personal hero, National Superheroes Day also provides you with a great opportunity to do just that. So why not donate to a local veterans’ or first responders’ charity today, or simply pick up a little gift for your mom, dad, or favorite teacher right here on Zazzle!
This Has All The Tell-Tale Signs of a Great Day
Thursday, April 27th, 2023
This evening might be the perfect evening to snuggle with the family underneath a blanket on the couch, to gather loved ones around a blazing fire pit or campfire, or to assemble your besties—and maybe a few bottles of wine—around the kitchen table to recount old tales, have fun, and create some memories. Why? Well, because it’s National Tell a Story Day once again!
“Storytelling is universal and is as ancient as humankind,” says National Geographic. Indeed, long before writing developed, people were using cave drawings—like the 30,000-year-old drawings found in the Chauvet Cave in France—and their own voices as a means of telling stories. The latter tradition of oral storytelling was very important for the passing down of cultural traditions, and examples of this can be seen throughout the world. In Ireland, a traveling group known as the seanchaí spread “ancient lore and tales of wisdom” wherever they went, while the Choctaw oral tradition included teachings on life, morality, and even creation. Today, with literature, TV, movies, and social media, there are more forms of and platforms for storytelling than ever. However, there’s still something romantic about traditional oral storytelling. As one Irish storyteller told Nat Geo, “storytelling nurtures connections with people in real life.”
National Tell a Story Day, then, provides a great opportunity to nurture connections with family, friends, and the wider community, so whether your favorite story takes place in a time long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, or in the here and the now, tell it to someone today!

There's Knot-hing Quite Like It!
Wednesday, April 26th, 2023
Did you know that today is National Pretzel Day? That’s right, ever since 1983, when U.S. Congressman Robert S. Walker of Pennsylvania decided that the traditionally salty but sometimes sweet snack deserved its own holiday, April 26 has been observed by many as a celebration of the pretzel. So if you’re looking for an excuse to get a little knotty and enjoy a treat today, go ahead and grab a pretzel. Don’t get our words twisted; we’re not suggesting you overindulge, but why not make a little room in your diet for a delicious snack with a storied past?
“The Catholic Church played a leading role in the early history of the pretzel,” notes History.com. According to the online publication, the humble pretzel became a popular Lenten food when stricter rules regarding abstinence from meat, dairy, and eggs during the 40-day religious observance were introduced in the seventh century. These first pretzels were of the soft variety dough—erm, we mean, though—and it wasn’t until the second half of the 19th century that hard pretzels were first produced. It was a Pennsylvania baker by the name of Julius Sturgis who claimed credit for the invention of the crunchier variety of the snack, which, of course, is now omnipresent on the shelves of stores all over the country.
If you’re looking for the perfect beverage to accompany your pretzel today, you might want to check out our list of great German beers over at Zazzle Ideas. However, if beer and pretzels aren’t your speed, and you prefer something sweet rather than savory, you’re sure to find a snack to suit your palate in the baked goods section right here on Zazzle!

Divorce Party: Cheers to New Beginnings
Monday, April 24th, 2023
If you’re recently divorced or in the process of getting divorced, you might want to think about having a divorce party! Sounds a bit…mad? You may want to give it a chance, as this unusual celebration of the end of a marriage is becoming more and more popular among recent divorces.
The end of a romantic union era doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom, regardless of the heavy feelings it may come with. For some, it can also mean freedom and the start of something new, which is a valid reason to throw a party. Besides, you hardly need an excuse to let loose and have a good time with your friends. Some people might even hold a small ‘ceremony’ with their ex and toast to the start of their new, separate lives.
Organizing all the bits and pieces of a party may be the last thing you want to do during this phase in your life. However, there’s some good news: there’s a path already walked when it comes to a typical divorce party template that will spare you hours of research and planning. From setting your divorce party theme to when and where, and who should be invited to the gig, it can all be found in one place. We’ve collected all the important information in our How to Throw a Divorce Party article, so your best bet is to check it out and start from there.

Happy Picnicking!
Sunday, April 23rd, 2023
There’s no better time than spring to pack up some blankets, camping chairs, and a basket full of goodies to set up in a park, a local nature preserve, or your backyard. Eating outdoors has a certain appeal as it puts a typical human activity into an atypical setting, which makes it charming and entertaining. April 23rd is National Picnic Day in the U.S. and the perfect day to celebrate this special venture.
Historians suggest that picnics started as a tradition in France in the 18th century, when the French would vacation in sunny spots and consume bread, cheese, and wine outdoors, calling it 'piquenique.' Later, the activity spread to other countries, and in 1801, around 200 fashionable Londoners formed The Pic Nic Society, which held extravagant picnics that included lots of bread, cheese, wine, amateur theatrical performances, and even gambling – all under the open sky.
Today, picnics are enjoyed by different cultures worldwide, all with the same purpose – to enjoy some time in nature, sunny weather, and food that was prepared beforehand. People often pack a blanket or basket that is designed specifically for picnicking; a hammock or two that allows them to take a nap after dining; and a ball, cornhole set, cards, or other games to play with friends. Picnics don’t require too much organization either – they can be had on a quick lunch break by just visiting a nearby park or cute outdoor spot. So, pack up all the necessities, call your friends, family members, or coworkers, and head out to your secret hideaway spot to celebrate and enjoy this picnic appreciation day. And don’t forget to use the hashtag #nationalpicnicday when sharing pictures on social media to spread the word about this day!

Join the Global Movement: Earth Day
Saturday, April 22nd, 2023
Every year the world comes together to celebrate its home - planet Earth! April 22 has become an important global event that promotes awareness and action toward protecting Earth's natural resources for future generations. According to its official website, today, Earth Day draws millions of people across 190 countries to honor and celebrate the achievements of the environmental movement.
Earth Day started in 1970 and was organized by Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin, who was concerned about the negative impact of industrialization on the environment. Nelson mobilized people to take action toward protecting the planet, and it inspired 20 million Americans at the time to demonstrate against the impact of industrial development, which was a main cause of serious human health implications. Afterward, the first Earth Day resulted in public awareness about issues and led to significant legislative reforms, which included The Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act, which were all passed in the following years.
In the last decade, this important day mostly focuses on fighting climate change. Many scientists are now involved in helping slow down the effects, while younger people participate through activism in colleges. This year, the theme of the event is ‘Invest in Our Planet.’ To get involved, check out your local community calendar to find events and activities, such as park and beach cleanups or tree planting. You can also make a long-term decision and commitment towards reducing your carbon footprint by making simple lifestyle changes, such as using a bike more often instead of cars, reducing meat consumption, or turning off lights and electronics. Using social media to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment can also be an impactful way to participate this Earth Day! You can make a difference!

Today is National High Five Day, and we know what you're thinking, and our answer is to proceed with caution – do not walk through public areas high-fiving everybody! Firstly, people may not understand what you're doing. Secondly, they may not like being approached and might have a harsh demeanor. You can still celebrate today in many other ways, we promise!
Now, we don’t want to be negative Nelly’s as today we’re meant to share some hand slams with other people. If we think outside the box, there are many other ways to celebrate. This yearly event occurs every third Thursday in April, and people often try and break the world record for most high-fives across the world. If you organize an event in your local community for next year, you have plenty of time to draw up many attendees/entrants.
May we interest you in custom flyers or banners to advertise your high-five event? There are many records you can try and beat, such as; the most high-fives in one minute or three minutes, and many others, which you can find here. Raising money or awareness for a charity might be another way to drum up the numbers. So, whether it’s ‘up high’ or ‘down low,’ this way, no one will leave you hanging. Virtual high-five to all!

Tenacious Taurus
Wednesday, April 19th, 2023
Tomorrow marks the beginning of Taurus season! Taking place each year from April 20th to May 20th, and is the perfect time to ground yourself and focus on any important tasks or goals you may have set for yourself. As we enter into the glory of peak springtime, Taurus season brings with it a time of comfort and regrowth.
Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, an earth sign, and is ruled by Venus. Taureans tend to be reliable, practical, and devoted individuals with a deep appreciation for life’s pleasures, both big and small. Resilient and hard-working, Tauruses often take a ‘slow and steady’ approach to certain tasks, but it’s important to note that when they truly set their mind to something, they will achieve it! A Taurus' committed and devoted nature makes them the companion you can truly depend on. Symbolically represented by a bull, the zodiacal constellation of Taurus can be found in the northern sky between Aries and Gemini. The Greek myth surrounding the origin of this star sign tells the tale of how Zeus assumed the form of a bull in order to abduct the princess Europa.
If you’ve got a special Taurus in your life this spring season, why not give them some customizable Taurus merch? They won’t bull-ieve how thoughtful you are!

Nothing Certain

Abraham Lincoln is often regarded as one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history due to his wartime leadership, role in the abolitionist movement, and memorable speeches. Indeed, among his many achievements, we can also count the introduction of income tax in 1861, as well as the foundation of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in 1862… We, um, guess. Hopefully you have your shoebox full of receipts to hand, because it’s Tax Day.
Most Americans – provided they’re not veterans, low-income earners, or drawing a pension – are expected to file their taxes in the three months prior to Tax Day. This involves gathering income statements, completing a tax return, and paying any outstanding taxes owed from 2022. This year, April 18 is your last day to submit these documents and make those payments – unless you’ve applied for an extension (or are living in California, which, due to the natural disasters that have taken place there recently, has been granted an automatic reprieve until May 15). If the thought of Tax Day files you with dread, however, know that you’re not alone: 9% of Americans hate doing their taxes. And perhaps more shockingly, 7% of Americans love the process!
In a few weeks, you’ll learn if you’re eligible for a tax rebate – and if you are, you may want to visit Zazzle.com to order a well-deserved treat for yourself. Of course, if you secured an extension, then congratulations: you have many more Today’s Moments to read before you need to get down to business!

Stress Awareness Month
Monday, April 17th, 2023
Did you know a little bit of stress is good for you? It’s also called eustress, and it’s a natural reaction to a threatening or demanding situation that enables people to react quickly to prevent danger. However, there is the other side of stress, which affects nearly 33% of the population, and Stress Awareness Month is here to raise awareness of its negative impact.
There is no single definition for stress, but the most common explanation is physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension. Since 1992, the whole month of April has been dedicated to encouraging people to take action and manage their stress levels. Stress is an unavoidable part of life, and it affects everyone at some point. However, long-term stress can have harmful impacts on physical and mental health, which can lead to serious consequences on health, including depression, anxiety, and cardiovascular disease.
During Stress Awareness Month, there are many resources available to help individuals manage stress, and those include online seminars, workshops, retreats, and webinars. These types of resources are important to remove the guilt, stigma, and shame around mental health. If you’d like to get involved further, check out this 30-day challenge which encourages you to pick one action for your physical, mental, and emotional well-being each day for a month. You can also do it with your friends, family, and colleagues, and it’s a great way to start feeling better!

Today's Moment celebrates National Gardening Day, a day dedicated to great gardeners and green-fingered novices alike. This is a special day to take photos of your beautiful garden creations and upload them to social media, which may encourage your family and friends alike to take up this fulfilling hobby. And with spring, the timing is perfect, with the summer weather soon on its way!
We can benefit physically and mentally from gardening – by getting vitamin D from being outside, serotonin from being in nature, and a dopamine rush from seeing flowers or greenery grow and completing tasks set out in our daily lives. As an alternative to having a garden, Goodhousekeeping.com found that using an allotment in your local area can also provide benefits, such as a sense of community and the opportunity to exercise while planting and uprooting fruit and vegetables. Seeing is be-leaving. Check it out for yourself today; there’s no harm in branching out occasionally!
If you’ve yet to experience any greenery inside or outside your home, you can start small and invest in some house plants. To get started, check out one of our insightful articles – “Which Houseplants are Right for You.” We'll take you through the ins and outs of house plants and guide you along the way, and we even consider your environment and schedules. It’s said that if you water it, it will grow, and we can apply that advice in many different ways throughout life!

For some of us, the love we have for pets has no bounds. Our furry friends are part of the family and make us incredibly happy. As today is National Pet Day, we have an excuse to spoil our pets even more. Last month we got to celebrate ‘Love Your Pet Day,’ but today is a national holiday, therefore, more treats and toys are deserved.
According to Nationalcalendarday.com, today’s focus is on pets that may not always receive the companionship and attention they deserve. That can range from adopting a pet, visiting your local pet shelter and offering help/supplies, or even checking in on your neighbors who are ill/elderly and offer to walk their dog/look after their pet. Adopting or caring for a cat or dog may be second nature to you; however, if the pet is a reptile or has special requirements, we recommend doing some research first.
If you’re looking for unique items to give to your local shelter or a gift for your fur baby, may we interest you in custom pet bowls, leashes, or beds? All sport vibrant colors and cool designs. We even have cute tennis balls if they deserve an extra treat. Whatever you choose to do today, we hope the pet in your life gets spoiled rotten!

A Family Affair
Monday, April 10th, 2023
Siblings, you either hate them or love them, but you wouldn't change them for anything in the world. Today celebrates the first set of friends we were given in this world. For one day, you can put your sibling rivalries aside and celebrate each other as the wonderful siblings you know and love, well, hopefully!
Siblings day was started back in 1995 by Claudia Evart. After experiencing loss on two separate occasions, Claudia created the Siblings Day Foundation (SDF). A foundation she created in memory of the two sisters she lost. The foundations have worked hard to make Sibling Day a national holiday. In honor of her late sister, Lisette, Claudia chose her sister's birthday, April 10th, as the national holiday for siblings. Siblings Day is not only celebrated in America but in many other countries, such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ghana, India, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
For this holiday, why not meet up with your own siblings? Call your siblings to meet up for lunch and catch up on what you have missed recently in each other's lives. Look over old pictures or even give each other gifts to show how much you care about each other. If you're looking for an amazing gift guide for your brother or sister, check out what we have to offer right here.

Do You Believe in Unicorns?
Sunday, April 9th, 2023
Can you hear the clippity-clop of hooves, and do you believe in the mythical and the magical? When you see the glimmer of white wisp past you, you may think you've seen the elusive unicorn, as if in a dream. This difficult-to-find creature is said to have been only seen by a few people throughout time. If you’ve seen one, count yourself lucky!
The first mention of the unicorn was in 400 B.C.E., in Mesopotamian artworks, and according to the Encyclopedia Britannica, unicorns were first spoken about in ancient myths from India and China. Initially, the unicorn was believed to be the size of a horse, with a purple head, white body, and blue eyes, and on its forehead was a foot-and-a-half-long horn that was red at the tip. A little know fact about the unicorn is it’s the official animal of Scotland because, in Celtic mythology, it was thought that unicorns represented innocence and purity along with chivalry and pride. Over the years, many different cultures and civilizations have spoken of the unicorn, and only those who truly believe will get to see one.
This day is to celebrate the unicorn in all its unique glory. If you're like us and cannot get enough of the mythical unicorn, then check out Zazzle’s unicorn customizable products, home décor, and party supplies. Unicorn decor doesn't have to be as challenging to find as the creature itself!

More Than Just a Chance for Chocolate!
Saturday, April 8th, 2023
Easter is a holiday that's celebrated around the world. However, it's more than just bunny rabbits, chocolate eggs, and egg hunts. For many people, it's a significant religious holiday that marks the pinnacle of Christianity.
The holiday is based on the New Testament of the Bible. According to the story, Jesus was crucified by the Roman Empire, and three days later, the stone sealing his tomb had been moved. He then appeared to Mary Magdalene, his follower, to share the news of his resurrection. It's believed that by rising from the grave, Jesus proved to be the Messiah and the son of God, as stated in Mark 16:1-18.
Today, people may celebrate this holiday with grandparents, dress up for the occasion, and enjoy family time. Whether you're celebrating the religious significance of the resurrection or just participating in the Easter egg hunts, Easter is a day to celebrate life and spring renewal.
At Zazzle, you can find everything you need to make your Easter festivities special. Check out our Easter page more ideas and inspiration.

Do You Feel Healthy?
Friday, April 7th, 2023
This day seems more important than ever! After the last few years with the world suffering a worldwide pandemic, it's important to take our personal health seriously. World Health Day is a priority every year of the W.H.O. or the World Health Organization, an agency of the United Nations that brings health and wellness to even the poorest countries around the world.
The W.H.O. first created World Health Day in 1948 at a health assembly when the W.HO. was created and fully took effect in 1950. It’s celebrated every year on the 7th of April. Each year the day is celebrated with a different theme. This year's theme is: Health For All, and this year is special as it's the 75th birthday of the W.H.O. This year's World Health Day will focus on looking back on public health successes and how things have improved in the last seven decades. Each year the W.H.O. meets to tackle the health issues of today and tomorrow!
Why not celebrate this World Health Day by focusing on your health? Take a long walk in the woods or on the beach, switch the weekly burger for a salad, or meditate in the sun while sitting in your backyard. Whatever you choose to do, make sure it's something that your doctor would be happy to hear about.

Get a Pizza This
Wednesday, April 5th, 2023
We, humans, have been enjoying pizza for centuries! First recorded as far back as 600 B.C., the earliest forms of pizzas were flatbreads sold with various toppings, including herbs, oils, and vegetables. These tasty flatbreads were casual, quick to make, and affordable, favored by the ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks.
In the late 1800s, European immigrants began arriving in the United States, bringing their culinary skills and cultural roots with them. While the first pizzas originated outside of the U.S., we can thank our very own Windy City for the delicious invention of the deep-dish pizza! In 1943, Chicago entrepreneurs Ike Sewell and Ric Riccardo decided to create their spin on the classic Neapolitan pizza – a thicker pizza with a crunchier crust made by the inverted layering of ingredients – in their restaurant, known as Pizzeria Uno. The layers of ingredients typically used in a deep-dish pizza include mozzarella cheese, vegetables, meats, and crushed tomatoes. While now operating as a chain of many restaurants, the first, original Pizzeria Uno is still open today, delighting tourists and locals alike!
To celebrate National Deep Dish Pizza Day this year, try making your own pizza in this world-famous style. You could even invite your friends or family to share a slice by having a pizza party! Another option is to support your local deep dish pizzeria and order one of their marvelous creations. Now, get out there and cheese the day!

When In Doubt, Go to the Library
Tuesday, April 4th, 2023
SSSH. We're treading very quietly because it's National School Librarian Day, and we don't want to disturb anyone. April 4th is a day to celebrate the many hard-working, knowledgeable, and kind librarians in schools and colleges nationwide and their role in encouraging lifelong learning among their students. It's a momentous occasion and an inspiring vocation, and thus we can't help but ask you to MAKE SOME NOISE FOR YOUR LOCAL LIBRAR…
Sorry, sorry! We'll hush; we can see people are studying. Libraries aren't just places to read and revise; they're also places where clubs and societies can gather, community events can be held, online material can be accessed, and seminars, lectures, or exhibitions can be scheduled, as ProWritingAid points out. They provide books and supply magazines, CDs, DVDs, and digital media, "connecting your school's library to other school libraries around the world." All this makes the library a more valuable and relevant resource in today's society, which is JUST AMAZING!
Sorry – sorry, truly sorry. It's hard not to shout about National School Librarian Day, you see. The next time you visit your library – whether it's to mull over Faulkner or brush up on your Dr. Seuss – then spare a thought for the librarians that stocked those tightly packed shelves. Ask for their advice, IT support, or desert island reads, and we can guarantee you it'll be an education!

Color Me Beautiful
Monday, April 3rd, 2023
Look to the skies in the aftermath of an April shower. You might spy the calling card of one 'ROY G. BIV.' April 3, National Find a Rainbow Day, is your best opportunity to resume that search for a pot o'gold you commenced on St. Patrick's Day to revel in the beauty of that multicolored arc.
ROY G. BIV is, of course, a mnemonic device we learned in school to remember the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Science buffs will also recall that rainbows are formed by the "reflection, refraction, and dispersion of light through water, resulting in a visual spectrum of light appearing in the sky." However, a monk in the 14th century, Theodoric, found that sunlight and drops of water were what created rainbows. In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton of dropped apple fame discovered that a ray of light is divided by a prism into two colors: the rainbow spectrum and white light.
One of the most iconic uses of the rainbow is the LGBTIQA+ flag, where the diverse array of colors symbolizes inclusivity and freedom of expression. Speaking of which: National Find a Rainbow Day is also the perfect day to experiment with our state-of-the-art design tool, using it well on our range of psychedelic products! Even if you can't find a rainbow on the horizon, you'll still be able to reach for the skies with Zazzle!

Empowered and Heard

Although much has been achieved regarding understanding and researching autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the last twenty years, barriers still remain. Indeed, it was only in 1980 that autism was distinguished from schizophrenic disorders, and the notion of autism as a spectrum was only developed in 2013 by the American Psychiatric Association. Our knowledge of autism, then, is still relatively embryonic.
The United Nations Department of Global Communications and the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, in collaboration with the Institute of Neurodiversity (ION), observe World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd. Each year, the U.N. continues to advocate for further research into ASD and campaigns for the rights of individuals with autism; acceptance and awareness are paramount, as the needs of neurodivergent people vary, and levels of understanding and tolerance differ dramatically from country to country. World Autism Awareness Day draws our attention to the contributions of individuals with autism to our society and encourages us to show compassion in our interactions with the neurodivergent community.
In 2023, a virtual event entitled "Transformation: Toward a Neuro-Inclusive World For All" will occur on April 2nd. You can register for the event through the U.N. website and attend to learn more about how the narrative around neurodivergence is undergoing a continuous, positive change!

Feast of Fools
Saturday, April 1st, 2023
While researching the significance of April 1st for Today's Moment, we discovered some rather illuminating pieces of trivia. Did you know, for example, that Richard Nixon made a fourth, unsuccessful bid for the presidency in 1992, campaigning under the catchy slogan "I never did anything wrong, and I won't do it again"? Or that in 1996, Taco Bell took ownership of Philadelphia's Liberty Bell, renaming it the Taco Liberty Bell? Why, in 1905, too, thieves snuck underneath the U.S. Treasury and stole 268 million dollars in silver and gold!
Well, the joke's on us because these are all, believe it or not, examples of April Fools' Day hoaxes. While the origins of April Fools' Day are much disputed, it's said to have evolved from the Roman festival Hilaria, which took place at the end of March and was devoted to revelry, masquerade, and a general thumbing-of-the-nose at figures of authority. Others suggest that April Fools' Day began when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar in 1582. Those that failed to keep up with this change were left celebrating the new year on April 1st, earning them the title of "April fools."
Whether you celebrate April Fools' Day through outrageous pranks, GIF-able memes, or solemn contemplation, we hope you enjoy your day. And if you'd like to see how our Independent Creators commemorate the day, look at our April Fools' Day gifts, which are guaranteed to entertain you!
