Cookie Master
Wednesday, May 31st, 2023
Today we celebrate the delicious, crumbly, and coconut-flavored cookie that is the macaroon! These popular cookies are of Italian origin and actually date all the way back to the 8th or 9th century. It’s clear that we've been enjoying these cookies for quite some time…
Macaroons are not to be confused with macarons, the different, although equally delicious, French sandwich-style cookie. Macaroons are usually made of shredded coconut, sugar, and eggs, although recipes may vary to include other toppings and ingredients. Macaroons are relatively easy to make, making them the perfect recipe to try out, even if you’re a beginner baker! People often dip their finished macaroons in chocolate or add different types of nuts into the mixture to create exciting, flavorful combinations.
To take part in National Macaroon Day this year, why not take to your kitchen and make your very own batch of these coconutty delights? At Zazzle, we can appreciate some lovingly home-baked cookies! In fact, we offer an array of customizable baking supplies, including labels, aprons, and tea towels, that are perfect for rookie home cooks or those with professional baking businesses. So, go forth and bake up a storm! Trust us, your friends and family will definitely appreciate it.

Make Memories This Memorial Day!
Monday, May 29th, 2023
Are you excited for this holiday weekend? As Memorial Day is upon us, we've got a great opportunity to bask in the sunshine. It's a time to destress from work, pack up the car, and head off to a cabin or beach house. We can spend this time taking in the scenic views while catching up with our families and enjoying every moment. Let's celebrate the freedom that was graciously given to us by our nation's veterans.
While making the most out of this national holiday, don't forget to take a moment to honor those who passed while serving our nation. According to PBS, Memorial Day was previously known as 'Decoration Day,' as people spent the day attending their loved one's gravesites, leaving flowers and marking their respects. For over a century, people paid tribute on Decoration Day. In the 1800s, after the Civil War, the federal law changed the name to Memorial Day. If you're a fan of historical facts, you can learn more about the origins of Memorial Day right here.
If you're looking to plan a special celebration, Zazzle has you covered. Whether you're planning a backyard barbecue, beach trip, or camping trip near the lake, we've got custom supplies to get you started. First things first: you're going to need a set of invitations to inform your family and friends of the time, place, and type of party. Next, be sure to pick up some essential supplies, such as paper plates and paper cups to make food and drink distribution a bit easier. And, if you're having a special drink, you can also pick up a hip flask to store it in. Bring the fun to your event with a custom cornhole set for everyone to enjoy. We hope you enjoy the sun, embrace every moment, and pay your respects, all at the same time. Celebrate!

Savor the Memories
Friday, May 26th, 2023
In a world where we’re constantly on our phones, sometimes we forget to take a moment to capture the natural beauty around us. When we’re out with friends or attending concerts and parties, we tend to make time for group snapshots and so. The following day, we might go into our photo gallery and struggle to pinpoint when certain things happened. As May is National Photography Month and as we’re coming up to the start of June, take this as an opportunity to organize the unending list of photos, putting them into specific folders so you can cherish them in years to come.
Photography dates back a couple of hundred years ago and has helped us discover a lot about our history worldwide. When it comes to being present in the photo, though, smiling wasn’t always on the agenda. According to TIME Magazine, it could have been a dental issue: people in old photographs tended not to display their teeth, which may not have always been in good condition. This brings us to our next point – smiling! Smiling is known to benefit us in a number of ways, and smiling in a photograph can carry forward those benefits in years to come when we’re looking back over them.
Summer will soon be approaching, and we’ll be surrounded by an array of photo opportunities. Instead of having them build up in your phone, why not find resourceful ways of printing them? Here at Zazzle, you can create your own physical scrapbook or photo album with our ‘Instant Download’ options, available on posters, prints, cards, and invites, and use them on one of our unique binders. If you prefer some wall decoration, check out our photo collage canvas prints that come in a selection of sizes. You can also turn your photos into great gifts for your family and friends across an extensive range of our products today. Life can be full of blurry surprises, so let's focus on the positives and savor the memories today!
Raise a Glass
Thursday, May 25th, 2023
In the wise words of LeAnn Rimes – “A good friend and a glass of wine, a little pick me up to get me through the night…”. We like the sound of those lyrics! You might be happy to know today is National Wine Day, which is the perfect excuse to make contact with your friends and organize a casual catch-up at home or a local bar or maybe even to try some karaoke. It’s wine o’clock somewhere!
We’re all partial to getting caught up in our own madness and forget to take time to socialize. There’s no harm in taking time out of your hectic schedules – away from chores, the kids, and your work life – to hang out with your friends. Friends shouldn’t just be there for the difficult times; making fun memories are just as important. According to psychologytoday.com, friendship can enrich our lives and make life more enjoyable. So it’s perfectly fine to have some ‘me’ time after a hard day, but be sure to get out and have some fun too. Today could be the day you share some wine!
In celebration of National Wine Day, why not unleash the inner hostess in you and pop to the shops to pick up supplies for a cheese board and nibbles? If your friends don’t live close by, we’re sure your partner would enjoy the surprise. Thursdays are the new Fridays, right? You can always create cute gifts for your girlfriends and send them custom wine glasses nicely engraved with their names. As an added cute gesture, you could also pick up a set of our wine charms, which are decorated with beautiful vibrant prints that could easily match their personalities. We hope you find a great way to mark today’s celebration!

Let's Make That House Feel like Your Home!
Wednesday, May 24th, 2023
Did you know the term ‘housewarming’ derives from an old ritual in which guests built fires in all the hearths of a new dwelling to ward off evil spirits and quite literally warm the house? Or that, in India, one housewarming tradition involves leading a cow into the home and draping a holy garland around its neck to bring prosperity to the homeowners? While those may be interesting facts, neither ritual sounds like our ideal housewarming celebration. It's a Twin Thing!
Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023
If you’re feeling a little fidgety all of a sudden, then that might be because the slow and steady pace of Taurus season has reached an end, and a far livelier period has begun. That’s right, Zazzlers, the sun has transitioned into the third sign of the zodiac, so prepare to be imbued with the invigorating energy and curiosity of yet another Gemini season!
Gemini is a mutable air sign represented by the twins and ruled by Mercury. Unsurprisingly, given that Mercury is the planet associated with communication and expression, Geminis are an outgoing bunch. According to Maressa Brown and InStyle Magazine, in fact, those born between May 21 and June 20 are the chatterboxes of the zodiac. Social animals by nature, Geminis are playful, witty, and charming. They’re constantly on the move too, so they’re born for mingling at social gatherings. If you do get talking to a Gemini at such a function, however, it won’t be idle chit-chat; these extroverts also have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, so they’ll likely be telling you all about their latest research or new passion project.
If you’re looking to channel the positive energy of Gemini season, then it might be time to get out and socialize with old friends, meet new people, take up a fresh hobby, or learn a skill. It’s also the perfect time to shop for a birthday gift for those Geminis in your life, so check out our list of “Great Gift Ideas for Geminis” or browse our best Gemini Gifts right here at Zazzle!

Patience is a Virtue
Monday, May 22nd, 2023
Today is kind of a big deal, you know. Yes, it’s May 22, and some old-fashioned fun is in the cards because we’re celebrating a pastime that has been popular throughout the world for centuries. So, it’s all hands on deck for National Solitaire Day!
Before you race on over to our wonderful playing cards section, perhaps you'd like to learn a little more about solitaire. The word ‘solitaire’ comes from the French word for widow, itself derived from the Latin solitarius, which means ‘alone’ or isolated.’ Fittingly, it has been adopted to describe any game that can be played by one’s self, often using tiles, marbles, or pegs. Of course, it’s one-player card games that most of us think of when we hear the term solitaire. Known as Patience in the U.K., card solitaire may date back as far as the 18th century. However, card solitaire’s popularity really exploded in the late 20th century after a version of the game known as Klondike was included with Windows 3.0 in 1990. According to Medium.com, Microsoft saw the game, which required frequent dragging and dropping, as a great way of helping people learn to use the mouse and some of the newer features of their software. Its addicting qualities meant the game became a staple of Windows releases thereafter, and it was actually Microsoft who established National Solitaire Day in 2018.
Solitaire might be seen as a lone pursuit, but play today, and you’ll be joining millions of people around the world and everyone here in Zazzle to celebrate this stimulating game. All you have to do is fire up a game on your PC, or alternatively, you could go old-school with some personalized playing cards from Zazzle!

An Occasion That'll Make You Thirs-tea!
Sunday, May 21st, 2023
Every day has so much potential. Every day presents more opportunities to learn, grow, love, and experience all that life has to offer. However, today is a particularly brew-tea-ful day! May 21, if we may say so, is simply tea-riffic! What’s with all this positive-tea, you ask? We’re sure you’ve figured out from our string of tea-dious puns that it has something to do with a certain popular beverage. Well, you’re thinking oolong the right lines because today is International Tea Day! And in honor of the occasion, we couldn’t resist raising a personalized mug and chai-ming in with our own little ode to tea!
In our intro, we noted that tea is a “popular beverage,” but that’s something of an understatement. In fact, according to the UN, which was responsible for proclaiming May 21 International Tea Day, only water is consumed in greater amounts worldwide. Tea is also one of the oldest beverages and may have been consumed in China as far back as 5,000 years ago. According to legend, the Chinese Emperor Shennong discovered tea by means of a fortunate accident when a leaf fell into his boiled water. For a long time, tea was used primarily for medicinal purposes but later became valued for its wonderful flavors and relaxing properties too. Tea’s health benefits, however, remain part of its appeal, as it’s rich in antioxidants, has an anti-inflammatory effect, and may even aid in weight loss.
While today is a celebration of tea, it’s also an occasion that the UN hopes will “promote and foster collective actions to implement activities in favor of the sustainable production and consumption of tea and raise awareness of its importance in fighting hunger and poverty.” To learn more about International Tea Day, then, visit UN.org or FAO.org today.

Whiskey Business
Sunday, May 20th, 2023
Our budding sommeliers have National Wine Day to look forward to on May 25, but if you’d prefer something stronger, then there’s always today – World Whiskey Day. If your day hasn’t exactly been neat, then this is your opportunity to crack open a bottle of whiskey, pour yourself a tumbler of the ambrosial liquid, and sit your stockinged feet in front of the fireplace. Any day that’s on the rocks can be salvaged with Today’s Moment!
Distillation, the process by which whiskey and other spirits are produced, has existed since 2000 B.C.E., according to archaeological evidence found in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq). However, the first official mention of whiskey as a distilled product was in Ireland, in 1405, when the Annals of Clonmacnoise – a book written by a monastery in County Offaly – made reference to the head of a clan drinking "aqua vitae" ("water of life"). In the native Irish language, this was read as "uisce na beatha," and the word "uisce" evolved into "whiskey" with time.
By the time whiskey arrived in the U.S., it had become so popular that, by the American War of Independence, distilleries were able to use it as a currency! Nowadays, whiskey isn’t exactly a form of legal tender, but it does hold some purchase online: the World Whiskey Day website recommends using the #WorldWhiskyDay hashtag on the third Saturday of every May and checking their social media platforms for any events, competitions, and tastings taking place in your area!

"I Do"...Decorate
Friday, May 19th, 2023
According to The Knot.com, wedding decorations – or the decoration of any wedding-related event – should be handled solely by professionals. "[There are] professional wedding planners, event designers, lighting technicians, florists, and rental specialists [that] know how to expertly turn your wedding reception dreams into reality." Designers in the industry may even have access to exclusive products unavailable anywhere else!
But while we’re big fans of The Knot, we think there ought to be a budget-friendly option, too – a DIY alternative that allows couples to take a hand in the look of their own wedding events. That very prospect is one we’ve covered in our "Different Types of Wedding Decorations for Each BIG Event" article; in this piece, we offer cost-effective suggestions for hosting a wedding reception, bachelorette party, engagement party, and rehearsal dinner. Décor doesn’t have to be expensive, and regardless of whether you’re approaching the ceremony itself or simply a pre-bridal shower luncheon, there’s a sign, seating chart, or backdrop to help you here.
Adopting this DIY approach to your wedding planning will also allow you to personalize every item, and we’re in complete agreement with The Knot’s recommendation to "take inspiration from your home, your wardrobe and places you love to visit." Think of your favorite travel destination or color scheme from home, and try to incorporate the elements you love most into the décor. Just be sure to include your partner in all the conversations!

Get This Party Started!
Thursday, May 18th, 2023
No one particularly likes growing older. As the hairs gray, the strength dissipates, and the brow becomes increasingly furrowed, it’s easy to feel a certain dread as your next birthday milestone rolls around. But that’s not how Zazzle sees it. Instead, we see birthdays as an opportunity to revel in the company of your friends, family, and neighbors, reflecting on your accomplishments – or the lessons learned, at least – in the preceding year.
If the truth be told, we also like birthdays because they’re a chance to host an out-of-this-world party. In our "Top Tips for How to Plan a Birthday Party in 2023" article, we delve into the logistics of hosting a birthday party – where to have it, when to schedule it, and even what to serve as refreshments. There’s no need to have a section dedicated to ‘Events Management’ on your résumé, you see; with the help of our checklist, timeline, and cost-cutting measures, you’ll be a party planning expert by the end of this Moment.
According to Parties Made Personal, the concept of birthdays has existed since ancient Greece and Rome, and their purpose then was much the same as it is now: "to express joy at a person’s physical existence." Using our party planning article above – along with some useful links to our birthday gifts and party supplies departments – it should be possible to create a smooth, memorable experience for everyone involved. The only hard part will be to improve upon it next year!

Worth Writing Home About
Wednesday, May 17th, 2023
It’s hard to dispute the advantages of email, IM, and the internet; without them, each of these Today’s Moments would have to be hand-delivered to your mailbox. But in an ideal world, perhaps that’s what would happen – and then we’d be able to savor the sweet satisfaction of receiving handwritten letters every morning. If we seem particularly sentimental about the written word today, then excuse us; it’s National Stationery Day, and it’s difficult not to be enveloped by the fun and festivities.
"Humans have been writing for thousands of years," Days of the Year.com, um, writes. The earliest known instance of a written record is the Dispilio tablet, dating back to 5200 BCE, which was unearthed by George Hourmouziadis in the excavation of a Neolithic settlement in 1993. Writing evolved over time as a method for important officials to communicate with each other, and eventually, financial transactions and historical documents were also recorded. Nowadays, writing – and the stationery we write on – are sometimes seen as rather antiquated as we move towards an increasingly paperless world. However, we think that digital documents are no substitute for seasonal cards, personalized notepads, charming embossers, and simply ink-credible pens.
If paper products are our bread and butter here at Zazzle – our meat and potatoes, if you will – then we’ve got a veritable smorgasbord of stationery and writing essentials for you to view. Furthermore, if you head on over to Zazzle Ideas, then you’ll find a feast of articles on the subject; check out our "22 Essential Marketing Materials & Business Stationery Ideas" for starters, and "Design Your Own Wedding Stationery & DIY Wedding Invitations Ideas" as a main course!

One Mouthwatering Moment
Tuesday, May 16th, 2023
All the signs were there, weren’t they? The sudden, insatiable thirst for a cold beer or refreshing mineral. The primordial growl emanating from your stomach and the hunched, childish pose you adopted as you found yourself in the throes of hunger pangs in the backyard. There was even the slow build-up of saliva in your throat and the impulsive reach for that well-worn ‘License to Grill’ apron. It had to be May 16, and it had to be National Barbecue Day. It had to be.
If, by some chance, you’ve managed to miss the aroma of cooked meat wafting from your nearest steakhouse, then don’t worry – National Barbecue Day has been a month-long celebration since 1963, so there’s plenty of time left to enjoy the proceedings. In the early 1960s, U.S. newspapers began running features on National Barbecue Month, then set to take place in June. In its first incarnation, several major American cities nominated honorary ‘Chairmen’: local representatives who would appear, BBQ tongs in hand, in those aforementioned features. The month was relaunched in 1981, following a decade-long lull, and has been overseen by the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association since 2002.
Of course, cooking meat over an open fire isn’t a recent invention, and the origins of barbecue can be traced back to, at the very least, Christopher Columbus’s arrival on the island of Hispaniola, where he observed tribes roasting food over a flame. As long as you haven’t got any beef with eating meat, then – and we’d understand if you had! – you should take a look at our BBQ accessories and party invitations. It’s rare to find such a diverse range of products – and they’re so well done, too!

#NationalPetMonth: Let’s Celebrate our Beloved Companions
Monday, May 15th, 2023
Having a pet is a wonderful adventure. They become a part of our families, our daily companions, and someone warm to snuggle with on rainy Sundays. Our furry, feathery, and scaly pet friends improve our mood and often provide a sense of purpose; there's even research to suggest that having pets is good for our health, helping to reduce stress and improve social connections. Owning a pet can often help us to become better people by making us more patient or affectionate, and the lessons we learn from them can have a remarkable impact on our lives.
Today we’re halfway through National Pet Month, which celebrates our cherished companions and raises awareness of responsible pet ownership. This month-long campaign provides an excellent opportunity for people to learn more about providing a safe and secure environment for pets. It’s focused on practical teaching on an adequate diet, hygiene, and veterinary care, and it promotes these through content and charitable events. It also encourages education about the signs of animal neglect or abuse and strongly urges people to report any suspected cases of animal cruelty.
To get involved in this pawesome cause, you can do many fun activities, such as sharing your pet photos on social media with the #National PetMonth hashtag or attending/organizing a fundraising event to support animal welfare charities. If you have extra time, you can volunteer at a local animal shelter and help care for animals or assist with adoption events. You can use this day to become more aware of your pet's personality and traits and spend some additional time with them – after all, they only want your love and attention. Go for a longer walkie, get them a new pet bowl or bed, or upgrade their living space. And don’t forget – extra treats are needed! By taking good care of our pets, we can ensure that they, in turn, take good care of us!

Honoring Mothers
Sunday, May 14th, 2023
Did you know that more calls are made on Mother’s Day than on any other day of the year? Each year, every second Sunday in May marks the day honoring Mothers all around the world. It reminds us to call them, be with them, and show them our gratitude – which they truly deserve.
But how did this day become such a global phenomenon? It all started with Ann Jarvis, a peacemaker who had founded a committee in 1868 to establish ‘Mother's Friendship Day.' Her motivation had been to reunite families after the Civil War. In 1912, she trademarked both ‘Mother's Day’ and ‘the second Sunday in May,' and a few years later, in 1914, Mother’s Day became a recognized holiday in the United States. Today, the holiday is marked in different cultures worldwide, and each celebration is unique. In Nigeria, for example, Mother’s Day is celebrated in church with singing, dancing, and prayer, while in Mexico, mothers are often serenaded by a mariachi band playing the song 'Las Mananitas.'
Most cultures, including the U.S., present mothers with cards, gifts, and flowers like carnations or roses. Here at Zazzle, we love spoiling our moms and marking this occasion in a special and memorable way. Our Independent Creators have done an excellent job designing beautiful Mother’s Day cards and gifts, such as jewelry, blankets, mugs, and much more, so take a look at some of our lovely artwork and products and spoil your mama in style!

Into the Wild in Your Style
Saturday, May 13th, 2023
You’ve set your tent on a scenic spot after several hours of hiking, lit a fire, and are now ready to chill with a cold beer and some good old camping tales with your buddies. But there’s that one tiny detail missing – you forgot to bring the actual beer!! The nearest store is about 100k steps away, and the sun has set, so the only thing you can do now is to let it go. Who needs a beer anyway...?
Well, sometimes, that’s the reality of backpacking - things happen, items are forgotten, and we can’t do much about it. However, if you’re a free spirit, you may be totally okay with it because, well, c'est la vie. You simply love backpacking, and you love it because you’re there for all the good that comes with it. But what if you don’t? Is camping (or glamping) a better option? Perhaps comfier? With a toilet and toilet paper? And more importantly – a fridge stocked with a cold beer? Or is there even room for that?
Well, at first, backpacking and camping may seem like two peas in a pod, but there are some key differences between them. Both have pros and cons, that’s for sure. But all who love the great outdoors will want to know which choice is more suitable for them. In our “Backpacking vs. Camping: Which Is Right for You?” article, we've covered all the main differences between these two activities and have even added the skill level required for each type. Check out what’s out there in the wild, and tell us your preferred outdoor style in the comments below the article!

Is there any better feeling than being out in the open on a nice sunny day about to embark on a few rounds of golf? To feel the leather grip in your hand and the taste of the crisp air on your tongue while taking in the tranquil environment of the golf course. The feeling is certainly hard to beat! While some of you enjoy golf as a hobby or sport, you might be happy to know today is National Golf Day, which gives you a credible excuse to go straight to the driving range or golf course after work. And if anyone asks, explain how you set off on your journey home, and before you knew it, your car was parked right in front of the entrance! That’s believable, right?
It’s quite easy to get caught up in the hype of the Masters Tournament or US Open. However, are you aware of the history of golf and where it originated from? Would you believe us if we told you that golf dates back to the 1400s in Scotland? While there’s no historical evidence of who created the game, the first written mention of the sport occurred when King James II banned any recreational sports such as golf and football. Which begs the question: who came up with the concept of the game?
Life can be hard in the driver's seat; we need our golf clubs on hand to destress. As golf equipment can be expensive, it's best to keep it protected while stored in the boot of your car or garage. Discover Zazzle’s golf club covers that will protect your drivers from harm’s way with a mix of high-quality materials, and they’re even available in fifteen different colors. Why stop there? We’ve got tee-rific golf towels that can be customized with a monogram, photo, or your club’s color theme. We even have something for amateur golfers: you’ll never lose a ball again thanks to our custom golf ball markers and golf balls. Claim what’s yours today!

Hello, Is it Luggage You're Looking For?
Monday, May 8th, 2023
Let us paint you a picture – you’ve just landed on the tarmac with your sun-kissed skin, post-holiday glow, and feeling very happy after an incredible vacation. Upon entering the airport and waiting at baggage claim for quite some time, your luggage turns out to be a no-show. Suddenly, reality hits you, and a sour taste starts to develop in your mouth: a globetrotting battle to reclaim your lost luggage is about to begin. Avoid the follow-up question of colors, size, or shape, and advise them of your custom artwork with customized travel essentials from Zazzle.
A few tech-savvy people have invested in putting Air Tags in their luggage. While that is a genius idea in helping to track it down, the airport staff will still need to filter through the chaos of suitcases and bags to find yours, and that’s where we’re here to help. You can find beautiful, vibrant prints on our unique luggage tags with the added option of monogrammed customization. Apart from lost luggage, spotting your suitcase on the carousel can also be an inconvenience; avoid a sticky situation with our high-quality luggage wraps that will surround your luggage like a glove with velcro closure.
When it comes to going on vacation, we can easily fall into the ‘go big’ stereotype and splurge on new clothes and accessories. If this is you, check out our show-stopping custom luggage. That’s right, you can choose the shell color, handle color, bumper themes, and add text of your choice. These can make great honeymoon or bachelorette gifts. We’re ready for take-off; the question is, are you?!

36 Personalized Birthday Cards & Best Birthday Card Designs
Sunday, May 7th, 2023
The inevitable happens every year when we celebrate our birthday. Basically, there are three types of personas we fall into: the ‘It’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to’ frame of mind; the week-long celebration where ‘No’ is an unacceptable answer to anything; and ‘forever 21’ – the utter denial of aging in any shape or form. However, it doesn’t matter how you perceive yourself; what matters today is what persona matches your loved ones and how you’re going to support them through it. Aging is a celebration of life, full of new beginnings and opportunities, and making our friends and family feel loved on their birthdays. And it all begins with a birthday card!
On Mother’s Day, we celebrate the mother figures in our lives; on Father’s Day, we give thanks to the father figures in our lives; and during Christmas and Thanksgiving, we spend most of our time with family members. Meanwhile, birthdays are the best time to celebrate our friendships. Each year we set out to spoil our best friends on their birthdays. The sequence of events usually begins when the clock strikes 00:00, at which point we aim to be the first to text them a happy birthday, but no more! There’s no better gift than time and appreciation.
You’re on the hunt for a birthday card that incorporates their personality and humor but also contains genuine, thoughtful words of encouragement and joy. And where can you find such cards? Right here in our super insightful article: “36 Personalized Birthday Cards and Best Birthday Designs.” You’ll uncover pun-tastic quotes, cute imagery, and amazing illustrations from a range of our official brand partners. Cinco De Mayo
Friday, May 5th, 2023
Cinco de Mayo, which means the fifth of May in Spanish, is a special holiday that commemorates the day of the Mexican army’s victory over France in the Franco-Mexican War in 1862. Cinco de Mayo is also known as Battle of Puebla Day, and is a huge annual celebration of Mexican culture across the United States.
In 1861, when Mexico declared a temporary moratorium on the repayment of their foreign debts, English, Spanish, and French troops quickly invaded. By April of 1862, both the English and Spanish troops had left Mexico, but the French troops remained. On May 5th, 1862, a Mexican force led by General Ignacio Zaragoza defeated the French troops during the Battle of Puebla. Even though this battle was not a total victory in the war against the French as they still occupied some of Mexico at the time, the victory became a great force propelling the Mexican resistance movement before the French troops finally were driven out 5 years later.
Nowadays, Cinco de Mayo is celebrated with magnificent parades, festivals and parties! Many people mark the occasion with Mexican dancing, traditional Mexican foods, and Mexican styles of music. Cinco de Mayo is a time of great significance for Mexican-Americans as they are encouraged to take pride in their heritage and the many contributions they have made to our culture in the U.S. Host the Cinco de Mayo celebration of your dreams with our awesome selection of decorations and party supplies!

Teacher Appreciation Week 2023
Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023
"Teaching is the greatest act of optimism." - Colleen Wilcox
This year, Teacher Appreciation Week falls on May 8th, running until May 12th, and aims to celebrate hard-working educators all over the nation. It's clear that teachers make a great impact on our lives, inspiring many of our future endeavors. Teachers also play a significant role in shaping your little ones by creating a positive and supportive learning environment for them.
Did you know that teaching is one of the world’s oldest professions and dates all the way back to 561 B.C.? Confucius, a Chinese philosopher, was the first private teacher ever recorded. He wanted to make education widely available and was instrumental in establishing teaching as a vocation. Nowadays, with education being widespread from kindergarten all the way up to college level, teachers are more important than ever, dedicating themselves to nurturing the minds of their students.
Why not give thanks to your favorite teacher, past or present, with a thoughtful gift? Whether the teacher you've got in mind is an English literature professor, a yoga teacher, or an art teacher, our amazing customizable gifts for teachers are the perfect way to show your appreciation! You could also help your children design a one-of-a-kind gift for the special teacher in their life.

Following the release of the final Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part Two, fans have been delighted with the amazing spin-off Fantastic Beasts film series and the West End original production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Monday, May 1st, 2023
Today marks the beginning of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the United States. During the month of May, we recognize and celebrate the countless contributions that Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans have made to the history and culture of our nation. AAPI is an umbrella term that includes cultures from East, Southeast, and South Asia, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. Over 22.9 million people in the U.S. are of Asian or Pacific Islander descent, making up 7 percent of the total U.S. population.
In 1978, Congressional Representative Frank Horton of New York introduced House Joint Resolution 1007, which proposed that the President should proclaim a week during the first ten days in May 1979 as ‘Asian/Pacific American Heritage Week.’ This resolution was passed by the House and then the Senate, being signed by President Jimmy Carter. In 1992, congress officially designated May as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. The reason the month of May was chosen for this celebration is to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese people to the United States on May 7th, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the transcontinental railroad being finished on May 10th, 1869.
There are many different ways to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! Why not visit a museum that showcases AAPI art or history? You could read a book focusing on AAPI stories or make a contribution to an AAPI non-profit organization. Watch a movie by an AAPI director or attend the AAPI events in your area. Support local AAPI-owned restaurants by trying some delicious food! To learn more about Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, please visit https://asianpacificheritage.gov/about/
