A Fall-Out Effort
Wednesday, August 30th, 2023
What colors do you think of when you think of ‘fall’? Is it the rich, flaming crimson of autumnal foliage? Or the bright, appetizing orange of pumpkin pie? Maybe you even thought of seasonal flowers, and the gold and burgundy blooms you see on the way to school or work in September. However, one color you probably didn’t think of was a sleek, wintery white – reminiscent of a bride’s dress, say – but that could soon change: The WeddingWire remarks that, in recent years, fall has become a peak time for wedding vendors.
Why have fall weddings surged in popularity, you ask? Well, it’s something we’ve investigated in our "Why You Should Consider a Fall Wedding" post on Zazzle Ideas. Nature provides a stunning backdrop in fall, with a hundred different shades of red, orange, and gold at play; likewise, the possibilities for menu options are equally diverse, with "hearty, comforting food like soups, pies, and seasonal vegetables" readily available. We do want you to make an informed decision about your wedding date, however, and so that’s why we’ve included some of the downsides, too: inclement weather and clashes with holidays and special events are two issues you’ll need to take into account.
Every wedding season has its own pros and cons, though, and fall certainly offers flexibility: Mindy Weiss.com writes that "[w]hether it’s an outdoor ceremony or a cozy indoor celebration you want, both are possible in the early half of the season." As an on-demand marketplace specializing in custom-made products, we know a thing or two about flexibility; take a look at our customizable range of fall wedding supplies and learn why Zazzle always offers a bespoke experience!

Raise a Glass!
Monday, August 28th, 2023
Happy National Red Wine Day! Who knew there was a specific day designated to celebrate red wine? Grab your favorite wine glass, a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, or whatever red wine is your drink of choice, and relax as you learn about a day devoted to red wine lovers like yourself!
If you're a wine aficionado like we are, you’ll know that wine is thousands of years old and is believed to have been first created by the Egyptians in 2500 BCE. Records from that time refer to the use of grapes for winemaking: wine is produced by adding yeast to grape juice. Then the sugar is converted into alcohol through a process of fermentation that can take anywhere from 10 days to a month (or longer). No one really knows when the first corkscrew was invented, but the first official corkscrew patent was filed in 1795 by the English Reverend Samuel Henshall. Today, there are hundreds of corkscrew designs to help open your bottle of red. You can even design your own corkscrew on Zazzle today!
Zazzle has you covered when it comes to enjoying this day to its fullest. Indicate which glass is yours with custom charms, or grab a personalized tote bag or label for your chosen bottle of red. To fully revel in this day, why not plan a trip to the vineyard of your preferred wine, and sample a new blend or two?

Because Why Not?
Sunday, August 27th, 2023
Ever feel like doing something just because? Well then, today’s the day for you! You can go on the adventures you've always wanted to, do something creative, or spread a little happiness to someone else. Celebrate this day in the very fashion it was created: by having your own little holiday with your beloved family and friends!
Just Because Day was first started by Joseph J. Goodwin in the 1950s. He turned the gift of a transistor radio for his wife into their own family holiday! It wasn't as about the gift of the radio itself as it was about spending time together and enjoying the spontaneity of life. In 1989, Just Because Day became a national holiday thanks to Dr. Stephen T. Jones, who chose the date of August 27th. Today’s a great opportunity to do something for someone else just because you want to, and not for any special occasion! You can do this by offering to mow someone's lawn, getting someone a bouquet of flowers, or baking some cookies for someone.
Even though this holiday is celebrated on the 27th of August, you can have your own ‘Just Because’ day any day of the year. If you'd like to surprise a loved one with a special, custom gift, we've got you covered. Find a great selection of gifts for your best friends, wives, husbands, and everyone else you want to shower with love. You know – just because!

We Can Do It!
Saturday, August 26th, 2023
With half the population being female, it's important that we celebrate women equally! Call on your inner feminist, and get all your ladies together to raise a glass to those who have brought the women's rights movement into this century. On this day, we recognize women's accomplishments, no matter how big or small they may be. Every woman should be honored today!
This day was first created in 1971 by Bella Abzug, a U.S. Congressional Representative. She chose the 26th of August for Women’s Equality Day to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote, and thus this day is a symbol of the continued fight for equal rights for all citizens, regardless of sex.
Celebrate this day by supporting the women in your life, should you be one yourself, or should there be other women in your life that you love and appreciate. Zazzle has women's rights shirts and buttons for you to wear when you're out at a march. You can even grab some stickers to post around town and spread the message!

Visionary Virgos
Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023
It’s time to get your life in order because today is the start of Virgo season! There’s never been a better time to tick off those looming tasks on your long to-do list. Virgo season is truly a time for self-improvement and some good old-fashioned hard work!
Virgos are those born any time from August 23rd to September 22nd, making them the sixth sign in the zodiac. These earth signs can sometimes come across as perfectionistic, often possessing a strong desire to create order. Virgos are also known to demonstrate great attention to detail and to have a very selfless nature, making them an extremely caring and attentive friend or partner. As you might expect, Virgos really hate any type of chaos and disorganization!
Did you know that Virgo is actually the second-largest constellation in the entire sky and the largest constellation of the Zodiac? The sign of Virgo is depicted as a young woman carrying a sheaf of wheat. Throughout mythology, this woman is identified as either a fertility goddess or Persephone, who was the daughter of the Greek god Demeter. In her tale, Persephone was kidnapped by Hades, the god of the underworld. Although she was eventually returned to earth, she was ordered to spend four months in the underworld with Hades each year following that.
While Virgos may be pragmatic and capable individuals excellent at keeping track of the important things in their lives, they still need a little treat too! Why not create a customized gift for the special Virgo you know? We think they’ll love it!

When Life Gives You Lemons...
Sunday, August 20th, 2023
A few days ago, we directed you toward “Ways to Mark the End of Summer (Before School Starts),” an article brimming with wonderful suggestions about how you and your family can while away the remaining days of the season. Today, we have yet another classic and wholesome summertime idea for you to consider: since it’s National Lemonade Day, why not help the kids set up their very own lemonade stand?!
National Lemonade Day was started by Michael Holthouse and his wife Lisa in Houston back in 2007. Originally, it was celebrated on the first Sunday of May, but the organization that sprouted from those early events now encourages kids to set up lemonade stands on August 20 as well. Running a lemonade stand is a fun activity for kids of all ages, but it’s more than just fun. It’s also a great way to enhance children’s problem-solving and communication skills, teach them how to set goals and make plans, help them see how their math lessons can be applied in the real world, and build their self-esteem.
If you’d like to learn more about setting up your own lemonade stand, visit lemonadeday.org. If your little venture becomes a longer-term success story—and we’re confident that it will—check out our range of customizable lemonade signs to spruce up your stand!

Today's the day to celebrate the art of photography and everybody who's stood behind a lens, trying to capture both extraordinary and ordinary moments in time. World Photography Day was founded to recognize the power of images and their ability to preserve moments, as well as support and promote the work of every individual passionate about this visual art. Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino, Jimmy Nelson, and Steve McCurry are just a few of the famous names that shaped the industry and contributed to this craft. World Photography Day serves as an opportunity for all photographers to unite and showcase their work, exchange ideas, and inspire others!
World Photography Day dates back to 1837 when the process of developing photography was created by two Frenchmen: Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce. This process quickly became famous, and many photo studios started to appear. Eventually, the French government bought the patent of the invention and gifted it to the world! This important event happened on August 19, 1838, which became the day when World Photography Day was born.
If taking pictures or learning all about them is something you enjoy, you can participate in this national day in many ways. The first way, which may be the most obvious one, is to take some photos! Bring your camera around the city to capture some street photography, or head into the wild to take some scenic shots! You can also participate in numerous exhibitions, workshops, and competitions that take place in your local community. The organization behind World Photography Day encourages everyone to use the tag #WorldPhotographyDay on social media to share their images and discover other people's work. And since you’re here at Zazzle, why not check out props for displaying your work, such as photo enlargements or photo plaques?

Beetlemania Has Arrived!
Friday, August 18th, 2023
If you’re a DC Comics fan, then today must feel a lot like Christmas morning—only, instead of a jolly man in a red suit, it’s a guy in an incredibly powerful blue suit of alien armor who's generating all the excitement. Yes, it’s August 18, and that means that the 14th entry in the DC Extended Universe, Blue Beetle, is due to hit theaters nationwide.
Blue Beetle follows the exploits of young Jaime Reyes, a recent college graduate from the fictional Palmera City after he's unexpectedly chosen as the symbiotic host of an ancient and mysterious alien relic known as the Scarab. As a result, Jaime gains the protection of a nearly impenetrable exoskeletal armor and an extraordinary set of powers. However, as Jaime, played by Xolo Maridueña, struggles to get to grips with this dynamic but unpredictable biotechnology, he'll be pursued by businesswoman Victoria Kord, played by Susan Sarandon, who's dead set on acquiring the Scarab for her own nefarious purposes.
While acquiring an awesome alien relic and an extraordinary set of superpowers might prove difficult, we do have an extraordinary set of Blue Beetle merchandise for Victoria—and, indeed, you—to browse right here on Zazzle! So choose from phone cases and binders that'll protect your phone or files with Scarab-like might, or check out stylish tees, totes, and more over at our officially licensed Blue Beetle store!

National NonProfit Day 2023
Thursday, August 17th, 2023
It’s officially National Nonprofit Day! Every year on August 17th we recognize the vitally important work different nonprofit organizations do for local communities, as well as their continued efforts to help people worldwide. Today, we also celebrate and graciously thank any volunteers who work or have worked for these organizations.
Did you know that the very first volunteer organization in the U.S. was founded all the way back in 1736? This early voluntary organization was known as The Union Fire Company and was set up by Benjamin Franklin. The Union Fire Company strived to put out fires and keep citizens safe. Nowadays, there's a plethora of extremely valuable and hard-working nonprofit organizations doing selfless work consistently all over the globe. Some of the most widely known nonprofit organizations in the U.S. include Feeding America, The American Red Cross, Direct Relief, and Habitat For Humanity. While there are many nationwide nonprofit organizations, there may also be equally hard-working ones in your local vicinity.
To participate in National Nonprofit Day this year, pick a nonprofit organization that resonates with you and donate to their cause. If you’re unable to donate at this time, you could instead volunteer in one of these organizations, or share their social media posts to spread the word. At Zazzle, we truly value the amazing work done by nonprofit organizations, and we currently have many different partner stores owned by nonprofits including The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The Environmental Defense Fund, and The Boy Scouts of America. When you shop for items from these stores, the royalty profits go directly to the nonprofit!

It's a Funny Story
Wednesday, August 16th, 2023
Today is National Tell a Joke Day (and we're not kidding). If you're looking for a good laugh, however, we'll leave that to the end of the article; for the moment, let's get serious about telling jokes.
Jokes aside (wink), today you’re more than welcome to tell that hilarious joke that makes you roll on the floor laughing, share that funny meme with your colleagues, or use the worst (but funniest) pickup line you’ve ever heard! Today, you're allowed to indulge because who doesn't like a good giggle? After all, laughter is good for the soul – and this statement is even backed by science. There’s a strong correlation between laughter and various aspects of our well-being, including physical health, emotional stability, mental wellness, and even the quality of our relationships. Some couples even say that laughter is the main ingredient of their successful relationship – not just because it's fun, but because it makes it easier to communicate and solve problems in tense situations.
Even though National Tell A Joke Day is not an official government holiday (perhaps they need to hear a pun or two to see what it’s all about), it’s recognized by everyone else with a sense of humor. Although the history of this day is unclear, some say it all started in ancient times, around 1900 BCE, with a fart joke by an unnamed man in Sumer. Ever since then, jokes have been a way to lighten any mood, break the ice in conversations, and occasionally cringe at those lousy dad jokes. A variety of jokes is the spice of life; paraphrasing an old saying and sharing them with others is what makes them special. So today, we encourage you to find a joke you like and spread it around. And remember us telling you about leaving some jokes for the end – well, we were just joking!

It pays to evaluate the existing landscape of your garden too and to consider the colors and textures present in your current space, which will allow you to pick decorations and plants that complement them. All Good Things Come to an End!
Monday, August 14th, 2023
It’s the question we all dread answering upon returning to school, college, or even an extended vacation from work: "How did you spend your summer?" If the hazy sunshine wasn’t enough to evoke sweaty brows and shortness of breath, then the prospect of proving your summer wasn’t spent completely on the couch should certainly trigger clammy skin and an accelerated pulse.
Don’t worry, however, because the Today’s Moment team has been in that embarrassing situation one too many times; we’ve learned our lesson about having done nothing and are about to teach you something as a result. In our "Ways to Mark the End of Summer" article, we’ll help you to bid a fond, satisfying farewell to the summer months. Reminisce with friends, indulge in some retail therapy, throw a sun-kissed shindig, or plan the ultimate game night: they’re just a handful of our recommendations, and each is bound to provide an entertaining anecdote for your peers and colleagues come September. And, of course, that start-of-term composition is going to be jam-packed with games, adventures, and pleasant memories!
If you have other suggestions for how to round out the rest of August, we’d love to hear them. And if your end-of-summer schedule isn’t totally stuffed, then take a look at Balance Through Simplicity’s article on "20 Simple Ways to Mark the End of Summer," or at LiveHappy’s "7 Ways to Beat the End of Summer Blues." Sure, the temperatures may start to drop soon, but you’ll go out on a high note this summer!

Legendary Lefties
Sunday, August 13th, 2023
Today is International Left-Handers Day – the perfect time to honor the lavish lefties in your life! Did you know that only around 10% of the worldwide population is left-handed? It’s statistically a pretty rare trait!
Being left-handed was not always something to be celebrated, unfortunately. Throughout history, left-handers have been subject to discrimination and unfair treatment. During the Middle Ages, left-handers were accused of consorting with the devil or practicing witchcraft, with these accusations often leading to them being condemned and outcast from society. Attempts to eradicate left-handedness were put in place across European and American education systems in the 19th and 20th centuries. These methods included tying a child’s left hand behind a chair or corporal punishment for those who were caught writing with their left hand. Thankfully, in the late 19th century, John Dewy’s progressive education movement helped to normalize tolerance for left-handedness. Sadly, though, the punishment of left-handed children in schools still took place as late as the 1970s.
Nowadays, lefties are finally respected and cherished, and being left-handed even comes with a host of valuable attributes! Studies have shown that left-handers use the right hemisphere of their brain more, whereas right-handers tend to use their left brain more. The right hemisphere is connected to skills like playing music, creating artwork, and problem-solving, making many lefties naturally gifted at these feats! Some of the most famous left-handers include Leonardo da Vinci, Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, Judy Garland, and Morgan Freeman! Thanks to Zazzle, you can surprise the lovely leftie in your life with an awesome, personalized gift this International Left-Handers Day!

Look on the Bright Side of Life!
Sunday, August 12th, 2023
“The most important thing is to enjoy your life – to be happy. It's all that matters.” These beautiful words by Audrey Hepburn always ring true, especially so during Happiness Happens Month! Find the silver lining in every gray cloud this August, and before you know it, the world will seem a little brighter.
In 1997, Pamela Gail Johnson created the Secret Society of Happy People. At the height of the self-help movement, she wanted to give happy people their very own tribe! Over time, they dropped the 'Secret' part of the group's title as they became more widely known. The group has chosen ‘Hometown Adventure’ as the theme of this year's Happiness Happens Month. This was selected after the U.S. Surgeon General’s recent advisory about “Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation.” The group asks that we return to our hometowns this year and connect with our local community.
To celebrate this national day, start by having your morning coffee in a cheerful mug or put on your favorite happy shirt! Take some time this month to do the things that really make you happy, or try something new that'll make someone else smile. Very soon, you’ll feel a great positive change in your life!

The Next Generation

As anyone who’s taken a cursory glance at a calendar will know, parents are spoiled. There’s Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, anniversaries, birthdays, and Christmas, meaning that there’s always an impending reason for them to receive a card, present, or coupon. When it comes to children, however, the calendar seems comparatively sparse. That’s despite the fact that, as the National Day Calendar writes, "[t]ime with our children can be fleeting [...] they grow up quickly, [and] their interests and needs change." In other words: won’t somebody please think of the children?!
Happily, some people did, and that’s why we now have National Son and Daughter Day, celebrated annually on August 11. The earliest reference to National Son and Daughter Day was in 1936 when a man called J. Henry Dusenberry had some success with the concept in Missouri. Parents would prominently place a flower in the house to represent each child, and by 1945, the practice was apparently common in 22 states. In 1972, Florida Congressman Claude Pepper also submitted a request for the establishment of an official Son and Daughter Day, but it never reached the House or Senate.
It’s unclear, then, how National Son and Daughter Day evolved into the celebration it is today, but we’re thankful that it did! It’s worth remembering, however, that, as Very Well Family states, "not every child identifies as a ‘son’ or ‘daughter,’ and not every parent identifies as a ‘mom’ or ‘dad.’" With that in mind, National Son and Daughter Day should be seen as an opportunity to salute every kind of parent-and-child relationship, and if Zazzle’s range of kids’ gifts can help you to do that, well, we’ll be proud, doting, content writers.

A Couch Potato’s Dream!
Thursday, August 10th, 2023
‘That’s why I’m lazy…I’m lazy like a Sunday morning…’! Yes, we know it’s Thursday, however, today is National Lazy Day, and it should be celebrated in a Sunday manner. Bring on the onesies and slippers, the fast-food deliveries, and the casual drives to Walmart. There’s an array of ways to get your laze on!
If you tend to live in the fast lane most of the time, you might be surprised to know there are a number of benefits when it comes to being lazy. When you laze around, it tends to lead to creative and deep thoughts about your future – a ‘Default Mode Network’ is activated, according to Storypick.com. Research has also shown that when we allow ourselves to rest, we tend to enter a ‘scatterbrained’ focus which in turn helps regulate our attention span in the long term. We bet you didn't know that there was more than one reason to celebrate this national holiday!
If you’ve got some personal time available through work, take it today! We'd like to take a moment to advise that we do not take any responsibility for hours or deadlines missed while trying to seize this national day. We’re taking the lazy approach! If you want to save your lazy day for a more suitable period in your schedule, why not order some can coolers, lawn games, or playing cards to truly make the most of it?

Did you know that some words are exclusive to certain languages? In um, other words, certain phrases and terms have no equivalent in English and are thus untranslatable – at least, not without using several more words than were originally required. For example, Waldeinsamkeit is a German word that refers to the feeling of being alone in the woods, and hiraeth is a Welsh word that suggests a longing for one’s home or the past. It’s the Japanese, however, that we have to thank for the word tsundoku: the unread stacks of books that we’ve purchased but never opened.
Why our sudden interest in vocabulary, language, and books, you ask? Well – besides the fact that we’re voracious readers on the Today’s Moment team – it’s also National Book Lovers’ Day, and an opportunity to celebrate libraries, bookstores, archives, universities, monasteries, and anywhere else in the world you can lay your hands on a bound volume. Every August 9, you can use the #NationalBookLoversDay hashtag online and entreat your friends and followers to join you on your adventures in print.
If you need any further incentive, though, remember that there are several physical and psychological benefits associated with reading books, too. Research has shown that reading "involves a complex network of circuits and signals in the brain," and the more you read, the stronger and more sophisticated these pathways become. Reading with children helps to boost their communication skills, self-esteem, and school performance, and it’s even been noted that bibliophiles display a heightened sense of empathy, having been exposed to many new perspectives and experiences in their books. Catch up with King, learn about Le Guin, and familiarize yourself with Faulkner this National Book Lovers’ Day – you won’t regret it!

Some Free Advice
Tuesday, August 8th, 2023
Never let it be said that we’re afraid to ask searching questions here at Zazzle.com. In the spirit of International Infinity Day – which celebrates the limitless potential of science, art, and philosophy every year on August 8 – we’re pondering the mysteries of life and musing over the idiosyncrasies of nature, society, and the human condition.
For instance: when was International Infinity Day founded? It’s a query that even gave Darwin and Nietzche pause for thought. We’re happy to be able to report, however, that Infinity Day was first conceived and created by Jean-Pierre Ady Fenyo. Fenyo was a poet, journalist, and philosopher who later became known as The Free Advice Man (due to his propensity for dispensing advice to bypassers on Bleecker Street and Seventh Avenue in New York). Though now living in London, he continues to advocate free thinking and philosophical inquiry on International Infinity Day. Since its inception in 1987, the day has inspired peaceful demonstrations in favor of free speech and expression.
We can’t claim to have explained Newtonian physics or Cartesian dualism in Today’s Moment, but there’s room for armchair philosophers, scientists, and artists on International Infinity Day, too. Why not read a book, watch a documentary, or strike up a meaty conversation with your next-door neighbor about existentialism? You might not discover the meaning of life in one evening, but you’re sure to learn a thing or two!

Zazzle Presents...
Monday, August 7th, 2023
Giving presentations is difficult: establishing a rapport with your audience, memorizing your content, adjusting your slideshow, and combating nerves are some of the anxieties you have to contend with when delivering a speech or paper. In fact, LinkedIn and Forbes have noted that approximately 76% of the population suffer from glossophobia: "fears and anxiety towards presenting or speaking in public, presenting online, or facilitating a meeting." Why, if you asked us to read our Today’s Moments aloud instead of uploading them online, well, even we’d….we’d… um… probably… um… str-str-stuggle slightly…
…Fortunately, there’s no need to start hyperventilating yet. Our team of presentation professionals at Zazzle.com has published a treatise on the subject: "How to Deliver an Effective Presentation." In this article, we talk you through the dos and don’ts of oratory, introducing the importance of practice, the benefits of audio-visual technology, and the value of research. You’ll also acquire some expert tips about steadying your nerves and perfecting the structure of your presentation, and we’ll even showcase the Zazzle products you could use to supplement your pitch – business cards, for instance.
According to the Harvard Business Review, for most speakers, the number one fear is "almost always uncertainty. We wonder: Will our message be heard? Will we be able to land the contract, close the deal, or influence the boss to view things differently?" With that in mind, there’s one thing we’re absolutely certain about: whether it’s in relation to custom-made products or presentation tips for school, college, or work, Zazzle always delivers!

The Hoppiest Day of the Year!
Friday, August 4th, 2023
It’s the first Friday in August, and while that might not immediately seem significant to you, we’re hoppy—um, happy—to tell you that it’s actually International Beer Day once again! Yes, folks, you’ve read that correctly—it wasn’t a hoptical illusion of some sort, and you certainly don’t need a hoptometrist (he’d probably just prescribe you beer goggles anyway)—today is International Beer Day! So join us as we raise a glass to the nectar of the gods, everyone’s favorite sudsy ambrosia: beer!
International Beer Day was the brainchild of a group of friends based in California, who, in 2007, decided that there should be an occasion to celebrate the craft of brewing. The following year, the first International Beer Day took place. It started as a small event, but it grew lager—oops, we mean larger—every year and has now been celebrated in some 200 cities worldwide! According to the official website, “The purpose of IBD is threefold: to gather with friends and enjoy the deliciousness that is beer; to celebrate the dedicated men and women who brew and serve our beer; and to bring the world together by celebrating the beers of all nations and cultures on this one remarkable day.”
If you’ve built up a thirst reading Today’s Moment and you’d like to celebrate International Beer Day in style, check out our list of “6 Craft Beers You Should Know About” over on Zazzle Ideas. You can also browse our selection of customizable beer glasses, beer mugs, steins, and can coolers to discover supplies that will stand you in good stead for many International Beer Days to come!

Color Me Happy
Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023
It’s National Coloring Book Day! This special day aims to celebrate the delight coloring books can bring and how they can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike.
Children have been having fun with coloring books for a long time! Did you know that the first coloring book was created in the 1880s? The invention of the coloring book is generally credited to the New York publishing firm known as the McLoughlin Brothers, who released ‘The Little Folks' Painting Book’ in 1879 as part of a collaboration with Victorian artist Kate Greenaway. The firm became a pioneer in the field of color printing for children’s books and then went on to become part of the Milton Bradley Company in 1920, which was subsequently acquired by toy giant Hasbro in 1984. Coloring books have long been a staple activity of childhood, helping children learn fine motor skills and to express themselves creatively. However, it wasn’t until the 2010s that adult coloring books rose to popularity, and people began to realize the benefits they could also offer to older generations! Studies have shown that coloring can reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus, and even induce a meditative state to help adults relax.
To take part in National Coloring Book Day this year, all you have to do is get coloring! Dust off your crayons or colored pencils, and try coloring in some cool designs printed from the internet or in a coloring book. If you have little ones, help them to color and make some lovely artwork to display.

Let's Celebrate Gals Pals Everywhere!
Tuesday, August 1st, 2023
Here at Zazzle, we think women’s friendship, and friendship in general, is a thing worth celebrating. That’s why we’re delighted that Leslie Knope’s Galentine’s Day—a sort of platonic alternative to Valentine’s Day that recognizes the importance of female friendships—has transcended fiction and captured the public's imagination in recent years. However, we’re also delighted to tell you that you don’t have to wait for the next Galentine’s Day to roll around in order to celebrate your best gal pals because today is National Girlfriend Day.
While the origins of the aforementioned Galentine’s Day can easily be traced back to an episode of Parks & Recreation, the origins of National Girlfriend Day are not so well-documented—though several theories about how it began exist online. One theory suggests that authors Elizabeth Butterfield and Kathleen Laing founded the holiday to coincide with and promote the release of their book Girlfriends' Getaway: Guide to Girls Weekend Adventure in 2002. Meanwhile, others claim that the holiday was started by website owner Mistress Susan. Regardless of where the truth lies, however, National Girlfriend Day is a great opportunity to let a friend with whom you share a special bond know how much you treasure their friendship.
It might be a little late to shop for National Girlfriend Day presents this year, but browse our gifts for friends page, and you'll discover a host of wonderful 'just because' gift ideas that will blow your BFF's mind any day of the year!
