Posting Your Products for Sale

Now that you know how to create a product, it’s time to post it to the marketplace. Selling your product is actually quite simple. Let’s get started!

The Sell It Button

Once you have put the finishing touches on your design, go on and click the button labeled “Sell It” on the product page. (Hint: it’s located under the “Add to Cart” button).

This should bring you to a new page where you can enter in some final details that will make your product unique within the Zazzle marketplace. Let’s go over your options.

Choosing a Title

While Zazzle does everything it can to help customers find your designs, the thought that you put into naming your products can make an immense difference between just selling a few to selling THOUSANDS.

When choosing your title, be sure to include words that are relevant to the design portion. Remember, assigning a title is to help your audience find your design; choosing an artistic, less direct title may make it nearly impossible for your audience to find.

Time for an example:

Some Tips When Choosing a Title:

  • State what the product design is in simple, searchable terms.
  • Add in general descriptors such as color, pattern, and size.
  • Place the main descriptors towards the beginning of the product design title. Base this on how a user would search to find your product design.
  • Avoid using ‘custom’, ‘CYO’, or ‘personalized’.

Writing a description

The description portion is your chance to tell your design story! Description is where you as a creator get to tell your customer about the thought process behind all the hard work of these designs. Writing a good description can be the difference between a customer completing a purchase or them leaving your product page without buying anything.

Some great things to include are:

  • What inspired your design?
  • Why does this design work so well on this specific product?
  • Has your design won awards elsewhere?
  • What occasions might this design be great for?
  • Can there be custom changes if they contact you?

Here is an example of an AWESOME description:

Here is an example of an OKAY description:

Beautiful Asian Art Throw Pillow

And this is how your description will look on the page:

Product merchandising

Product merchandising allows you, the creator, to control which styles of products customers will be allowed to choose for your design. For example, this would prove useful for stores that wish to sell only sustainable t-shirts, shirts made in the USA, or beer steins only.

Let’s say you’re creating a t-shirt, and you select ‘Men's only’ from the product merchandising options when you post it for sale. That means that any customer who sees your t-shirt will only be able to buy it on ‘Men's only’ styles (no kid’s styles, no women's, etc.).

Or, if you wish to limit the available styles to only one particular style, select ‘The current style and color only.’ Customers will then NOT be able to change styles at all and will only be able to purchase the exact style you had selected when you posted it for sale.

Marketplace Categories

By assigning specific categories and recipients to your design, you can help make it easier for your customers to filter through the marketplace, and narrow their search to your design category.

Enter a store name

In order to post a product for sale, you will first need to have a store set up. If you haven’t already done so, don’t worry! You can quickly create a store on the ‘Post a Product for Sale’ page in the ‘Enter a Store Name’ field. If you already have chosen a store name, you should see your store as one of the options.

Things to consider when choosing a store name:

  • The name you pick when creating a store is applied to both your store AND your store URL (www.zazzle.com/storename). This means you can use underscores in your name.
  • You can change your store name at a later time; however, you cannot change the store name in your URL. Instead, you would need to hide your store and then open a new one with the name you want.
  • Your store name serves as a first impression of sorts for customers who come across your products. Take a few minutes to think it through and make sure it tells the customer something interesting about you!
