Tips for Creating Great Products
Now that you’ve mastered the basic tools and features available to you within the Zazzle Design Tool, let’s take a step back to cover some general tips to help you create some stunning products.
Make Sure Your Design Is Not Covered or Broken up by the Product Shape
Double-check the placement of your design when you are adding it to your product(s) to see that it’s not covered by the shape of the product. You can use different functions like fit and fill and arrow key to manipulate your design to where you want it to be.
Be mindful of the live preview images of the product to ensure that your designs are not obscured in any way. In the example below, you can see how the cut-out in the middle of the phone case also happens to sit right on top of the design that was added to it.
Make Sure Your Image Fits Within the Safe Area
Remember to use the ‘Guidelines’ feature when designing to ensure that your products are produced as you intended for them to look. Make certain your design fits within the green dotted line, also known as the safe line. Any part of the image that does not fit into this area might be cut off when printed on the product, so always check to see that your image stays within the lines.
Here are the three additional guidelines you’ll want to pay attention to: the red bleed line, the blue print line, and the green safe line.
Don’t Leave Unwanted White Space on Your Product
Leaving unintentional white space on a product can really break a great design, making it looking unfinished. Be sure to use the ‘Show Whites as Transparent' feature within the Zazzle Design Tool to give your product a more polished look.
Leaving white space on a product might make the design look half-finished. Try using the 'fill' function, or you can also add a background color to make the design look more complete.
Review Your Design on Every Style and Color Available for the Product
Different styles of the same product can vary in size, color, and even shape. Before you post your product for sale, take a moment to go over the different style options to ensure that your design will work well with a majority of the options.
Don’t Ignore the Warning about Your Image Coming out Blurry or Pixelated!
At Zazzle, we strive to offer the highest quality for every product we produce. And it all starts with our creators. Therefore, in order to prevent any blurry prints, we recommend that you use the highest resolution possible for the images within your designs (See File Formats & Image Resolutions).
