Which Products Should You Create?
So, you’ve found your audience and have a great idea for a design: what’s next?
It’s time to find the perfect canvas for your design. Zazzle has more customizable products than you can count, but that doesn’t mean you should put your design on every single one of them. After all, a design intended to celebrate a first Christmas married would probably feel out of place on a bathroom scale, but just perfect on an ornament. Take a moment to determine which products would pair best with your designs.
Who Is Your Intended Customer?
To best match your designs with products, you’ll first want to ask yourself:
“Who will use my products?” & “What else would they be looking to buy?”
For example: you created a great design that you think would look great on a baby shower invitation. Now, say your customer fell in love with the invitation and decided to base their baby shower around your design theme - what other products would they need?
By expanding the kinds of products you offer, you might collect a much larger portion of the products they need to successfully pull off the event! For example: to throw a baby shower, a customer might also need that design on:
- Wraparound labels
- Belly bands
- Rubber stamps
- RSVP cards
- Envelopes
That’s just for the days leading up to the party. What about for the day of?
- Stickers
- Paper plates
- Paper cups
- Bunting
Don’t forget the party favors!
- Baby Bibs
- Pacifiers
To round it out, you might want to consider designing some thank you cards!
Now, if you were to include that entire suite of products into a curated Zazzle Collection, you’ve essentially created a one-stop shopping experience for some busy mothers & fathers-to-be. All of that was created from one design for one event. If, instead, you went the route of phone cases or baby room decorations (night lights, table lamp, etc.), the possibilities could be endless!
What Type of Artwork Do You Create?
Although there will be times that you may not want your design on a full suite of products, it’s still important to think through the intent behind your designs and products.
Choose products that fit your style of designs and images. Whether you work in digital and graphic art, oil painting, watercolors, photography, graffiti, or any other form of fine art, you can find the right products to showcase your work on, with Zazzle.
Are you selling merchandise for your podcast? Your audience would probably go for a mug with your podcast logo on it, but it’s less likely they’ll want the same logo on a duvet cover. On the other hand, a graphic creator specializing in vibrant patterns would do great with both mugs and duvet covers.
Below are some examples of products that work well for particular types of designs:
Graphic or Digital Art
Works pretty well with any product! Put your work on everything from invitations and postage to necklaces, keychains, and mugs!
Paintings, Sketches, or Watercolors
These forms of art translate nicely on posters and wall art, phone and tablet cases, cards, postage, and calendars.
Photography
Photos look great on posters and wall art, postcards, calendars, stamps, coasters, luggage tags, and more!
Patterns and All Over Print
Patterns and ‘all over prints’ look great on a variety of products, from apparel like leggings and shoes to home decor accents like shower curtains and throw pillows. They are also perfect on wrapping paper!
Typography
Typography designs work on just about anything, but look exceptional on rubber stamps, pillows, invitations, tote bags, and t-shirts.
